Select Hilites

Stringer what a joke, being indigenous round should have been garlett, buddy or Burgoyne all played better than stringer Select have dropped the ball on this weeks selection

What select could have done this week is do an indigenous themed card (1 per team ) showing off some of the awesome jerseys that were designed for this week with a percentage of the sales going to an indigenous charity.....would have been a good news story for them to promote and something I'm sure a lot of team collectors would chase.

But then again, that's none of my business.

I must say that I am quite surprised by that - what it now means is that in "theory" there are ten teams left to choose from in the next 13 rounds of the season. I honestly think that one or two clubs will miss out entirely. A potential embarrassment could be if Brisbane only happen to win one more game for the season (perhaps late) and a player might have to be selected who played a "serviceable" game rather than a great or very good one, for the sake of covering each team?

I'd have bet London to a brick that Shaun Burgoyne would have been picked this week!

Sad thing is we are just assuming Select will try and do all clubs, they might not even be thinking that and have no intention of trying to cover them all.

As long as the popular clubs are covered, that's all they need to worry about. If they average 350 per round at $14.99 each that's an additional $120,000 in revenue each year not including the finals (less costs and licencing).

It would actually be in their interests to have a popular team have a "hilite" each week.

Why sell 288 Mundy cards when you can sell 416 Pendlebury cards?

That's nearly a $2K difference?

Yep totally agree. Unfortunately it's always about money when it comes to Select. I get the fact they have to make money to stay in business, but it very rarely seems to be for the collector.

Nah they are definately going through all the teams or why bother doing mundy haha tbh it was a strange choice as if it was all about money surely burgoyne was the pick?

My only thought is they have another hawthorn and melbourne player they are waitig for like hodge, rioli, hogan and viney

Look at what Topps do, they have multiple cards each day for baseball highlights etc, even multiple from the same game?.....sure there are more games being played but you could have 3-4 cards of each round instead of 1........broaden your ability to sell to collectors across a lot of teams. Print them up at once and ship them all out at the same time.

Here is a question, what happens when we have a weekend where 2 players have huge games....say one player kicks 12 goals and one has 55 possessions and stars in the win?

Who do they choose?

As per current, one will miss out?

Mate that has already happened with ablett (40 ofd possies and 20 clearances) and mitchell 50 disposals. Both missed out

People should be seeing the Dangerfield card arrive today. Guessing that will be numbered over 400, my guess is around 420-430.

Mine didn't arrive today and we didn't get any air freight at work due to the Melb airport being shutdown last night, so guessing that's why the express post didn't arrive either.

Josh Kelly for me this week. With Selwood, Danger and Dusty having awesome games but already having a card I would have thought it has to be Kelly.

I had been trying to order mine as soon as I possibly could to try for low numbers, and had been going pretty well. But I got busy at work and ordered mine about 40mins after release and only got 203.
Don't know if the time of order affects numbering, i ordered 2 dangerfields right on release and got one in the 40's and one on the high 200's
