Official 2016/17 Tap N Play Cricket Trading Card Thread

20 cards in the Jersey number sets,
Guessing 2 players per BBL team and 1 from each of the Aus Rep teams.
1/1 and 77/77 may well both be sixers players given they have players who wear both numbers,

There is a Jersey numbers set which is Silver and is limited to 150 cards each (20 Players) 1:72 packs

There is a Gold Variation of these cards 1 in 360 packs that is limited to the players jersey number. The highest number I was told is 77 and the Lowest is 1, so yes only 1 set of Golds can be completed if that's the case.

Cheers
Matt
Wow, serious mistake by tap n play IMO.

It spells the end of master set collectors and with that they will sell less boxes. I won't be aiming to get a full set as I have in all previous years. I will still get the silver set, however I would have spent a great deal more $ chasing the gold set too. No need now as won't be getting the full set, so why spend huge $$$$ trying to get 19/20 cards! It would frustrate me to no end not being able to complete it and I am sure I am not alone with that.

Cards look great and as usual I will be buying a tonne of it, just think they have got it wrong with doing that particularly in a set of 20! If they really had to do it, why not have a stand alone one.....

It looks like it will be a November 14 release which I think is far too late. It also looks like there will be two jersey cards to collect - Mitch Starc and Nathan Lyon!

By the time we get our hands on these, the entire Domestic One day tournament will have been completed, along with the first two rounds of Shield cricket & half of the South African Test series.

I don't know why there has to be a delay with the release of these every year? Most BBL teams are close to finalising their team lists & even though they have not released player signings it is clear Cricket Australia is aware of them & in turn pass on the information to Tap N Play for this release. Last year there were half a dozen players in the set that at the time of release had not even been anounced by the franchise as signings.

The ESP NRL Traders set was released in time for round 1, not sure about the Select AFL set....

I asked Tap N Play about this the other day and this set is primarily a BBL based set which also includes National team players. There is no requirement from the leasgue to have this released during the domestic season in early October.

They said that by the time the BBL rosters are set (and they still all aren't set at the moment) there is the time required to create the cards, have the stats provided, then approval from both CA and the BBL Clubs then 6 +weeks for production/pack out and then 4-6 weeks for shipping.

The clubs and league want as many marquee players in the set so they also delay approving teams to ensure players like Bell and Broad etc get included in the sets.

I know for AFL that the rosters for the next year are set in October/November and this gives the manufacturer 4 months to have the initial set completed.

Same with the NRL, Traders is based on players from the previous year (with a few early changes they can include) but any marquee players arent included until July releases.

I was told that A-League was even worse this year with so many new players and players changing teams.

Cheers

Very good point Matt, they are BBL set and the release date is more than a month before the start of the BBL season.
There are no domestic one day or shield teams in the set and no international teams so really I cant see a issue with the timing release other than people chasing IPS's.

I'm looking at the flyer and sadly I don't think the insert cards are a big leap forward from the last release. Hopefully I'm wrong and they look better in hand.

So looking at the breakdown it looks like the boxes will be 36 packs this year up from 32 and cases will contain 10 Boxes. Which means on average 1 box will contain 18 silver foils, 9 gold foils, 3 memorable moments, 2 Award winners, 1 young star, 1 match winner and 1 card that will be either a Silver jersey, gold jersey, Signature, ultimate performer or a signed jersey card.

Basic cards look good, the cards that are 1 a box or less look better then last year, my main concerns are the memorable moments and award winners looking the same as basic cards like last year and the hopefully gold and silver foils quality improve from last year.

Jersey numbers, the only player i can think of in the big bash who weres a number 1 jersey is Ryan Carters from the Sixers, they also have a 77 in sean abbot. 1 for australia are mark taylor and lauren cheatle. so i think Ryan Carters will be the single card. guess only 1 sixers can complete a team set.

Don't forget the Australian ODI and T20 sides.......there is a current player who wears number 1!

There were 26 packs per box in last years set.

Usman Khawaja is currently wearing the No 1 on his shirt.

Jason Krejza was the last player before this to wear the No 1

As somebody who got some packs of last years release,
I like the idea of the gold jersey number inserts. I like the uniqueness of that set, and I think I may try and get a few packs of this year's release too

Hey all,it's great to have these new cards but are they going to fix the folder problem(ruined 3 cards inc
Award winner and box cards the rings need to be put on side like all other folders not straight up like they have with the first 2 folders,so guys check your cards in back of folder
