I'm starting with this one...South Park is a modern classic and just fits the criteria by starting on air in 1997.
I could have easily gone for a Transformers, Masters of the Universe or even Smurfs character!!

The Tick!!! Damn it! He is awesome....one of the best characters of all time. Total invulnerable to anything, and usually totally oblivous to everything as well! Have you seen the TV series, definately worth checking out, everythime I see the actor who plays Bat-manuel doing a guest appearence on CSI or something I do his voice and crack up laughing!

Yeah, he was in Seinfeld as Elaine's big-ass long term boyfriend. His voice is fantastic for cartoony characters...I think he voices something else that I have been watching but can't recall it right now.

Hey I just thought of a few cartoons my fav was captian simmion and the space monkeys. I like road runner cause its funny as and also eek the cat with terrible thunder lizards but I couldnt go past when I was 13 always be ready to watch at 5 oclock on cartoon network for Scooby Doo.
