Big call! I'd say there's definitely some doubt there.Sam Mitchell best player in the comp without a doubt.
No biggie at all!!Big call! I'd say there's definitely some doubt there.
For mine, it's hard to go past Dangerfield at the moment. He's one of those players who as an opposition supporter, you're worried about for the whole game due to his ability to change the game in five minutes (e.g. Start of the second quarter versus Port Adelaide a few weeks back).
Indeed, Mitchell might be the best extractor in the game (although Priddis would certainly challenge for that title)! But calling him the "best player in the comp without a doubt" is probably going a bit too farNo biggie at all!!
Only a consistent player that game by game, year by year that has more coaches worried every week how they are going to stop him from getting his hands on the footy so much.
There is no other player than can extract like our man Mitchell.

Seems like this thread may be done and dusted.Mitchell is so far ahead in this it's simply no contest. Not only does he get opposition coaches worried, it would appear they have given up trying to contain him, such is his consistent domination.
Dangerfield can only hope to one day be as good.

Feel like Lachie Neale gets overlooked in these conversations. Think he's current #1 for disposals and contested ball.
Don't get me wrong, I completely respect Mitchell (as I said in another thread he should be a Brownlow medallist). I just don't think that he has the X-Factor that you generally need to be the best player in the comp.Seems like this thread may be done and dusted.
And the naysayer may see the error in his way.
I wouldn't be sure Sam Mitchell is even the best player at Hawthorn! Yes, he is dependable and fiercely competitive and racks up 40 with rare ease but I'd pick Shaun Burgoyne first, any day of the week. Plays almost anywhere and you just know when Clarkson needs something done, it's Burgoyne he goes to.
After Parker, I'd take Jeremy Cameron. And I agree, Lachie Neale could nearly be anything.
