Yeah Ferney played 1 mostly and I think Mamo might have had a quick run there late in the second half. Ferney scored the Knights first, a good FB supporting a break. Defensively I didn't really pay attention but I do recall Leilua running straight over him for a try.

Croker kicked 5/6, all from out wide. I saw a kick off between Croker, Sezer and Halligan which Croker won comfortably.

Watching that trial has given me a few ideas, really thinking about slotting Hodgson in at 9

Yeah the questions were probably more suited to the SC thread. ;)

Will Hodgo get more minutes this year, it seems Ricky's not convinced he can play 80.

I've always been a set and forget withn the Fence and with the reduced interchange was hoping he might get back to 80 but Im unsure here with the depth you boys have this year.

I think that Ricky will start the year with Baptiste on the bench but the goal will be for Hodgson to play 80. The other option if they carry a bench hooker would be for Hodgson to drop into the back row when Baptiste is on. From what I understand this is what he did at Hull KR.

Soliola will play big minutes again, looked really good at lock last night and I think will fill the 4th prop void.

I had Soliola and Taukeiaho in my centres from the start of last year how good did they go!!

I cant seem to find the same value this year. Team list Tuesday will be a big one for finding the gems. Every man and his dog has A Taylor (who seems to be made of glass) Hastings (who was mediocre at best last year) and THe Niko brothers who do look promising but may have limited game time in a fully fit squad.

Anyway back to tinkering Hodgo would free up some cash.

The good thing about Hodgson is his kicking from dummy half, both short and long. His game has gone to another level and he has really adapted well to the NRL and is a genuine game breaker IMO

Tapine now released and at Canberra for 2016 and beyond. I have heard that Canberra will now release TPJ effective immediately to the Broncs.

Should free up significant $$$

Surely the Eels won't have cap dramas now?
yeah it will free up money for us, but we dont have cap dramas for last year or this year (the cap dramas were from when ricky stuart was coaching us), i just hope they don't spend it on trying to bring hindy back (he is looking to try and make a comeback depending on doctors/ family say) as much as i love hindy he is past his prime. they should use it for young players in the club

yeah 4 years is long time to be out, the problem with parra is they always start looking to the future and then take three steps back by buying aging players

Canberra have been the same for a long time. Like him or hate him (and many seem the latter) Stuart has been excellent restructuring the Canberra roster. Only 6 from the original 25 remain from when Stuart took over and to be fair they all needed to move on and the players he has brought in seem great both on and off the field. At the end of the day only results matter so unless Canberra can crack the 8 it counts for little.

I think you would find that the main fine of $500k for their cap breaches occurred in 2014 and were spread over multiple tiers, including NYC, so I don't believe you can fairly point this at Ricky Stuart, his mess was putting together a dud roster not salary cap breaches.

Also, as yet, it is not clear that the Eels are clear of cap breaches this year because surely when Hopoate's barrister wins his contract dispute case in the supreme court and the Eels need to pay him loads of coin, that must (IMO) go onto their cap for this season. Also a large piece of Watmough's salary has already been earnt and who knows what injury clauses he has in his contract. I reckon with the Eels pack it is a good injury retirement to happen for them as a team as it Watmough had already passed his best from what we saw last season.

Also surely the Hindi come back is an absolute gee up.

What happened with Hopoate was wrong, getting him to sign a contract and then not lodge it, don't what was going on in their head to do that to him, also not sure what would happen if he was to win. Does that mean his contract is valid and then contracted to eels and go back to play for them, or does he stay with dogs and eels pay for contract?
Actually i would still put part blame of the breach on him, as it wasn't just for 2014, it was for a couple of years. The reason why he is part to blame is he was the person who signed/ re-signed players and then a couple of months later told them they weren't wanted, he tore the team apart and left (granted some players needed to go but he completely screwed over the club fielding a team and didn't stay to help rebuild. Brad arthur when given the team didn't even have the 25 players as a roster because of that, younger players from the lower grades were needed to field a team and thats where the first & second tier salary cap breaches came from.
Yeah Hindy coming back is a gee up but if Watmough is to retire, i hope the club puts the money to developing our younger players.

Use it to upgrade and extend fellas like moeroa and junior Paulo, they are the future of our pack.

Hope it keeps junior away from the raiders as speculated.
