2015 ESP Traders Official Thread (Sell Sheet Page 4)

Still think it'll be a good set.

Those faces of the game will be a lot cheaper than 3 dollars I think depending on the amount of players there are

144 cards, so 9 cards per team.

144 x 3 = 432.

Gives us 245 inserts to chase.

Maybe I read the sheet sent wrong ....· 677 Card designs available via packs (watch out for 2 header cards and team check list cards)

432 commons and Parallels , 2 Header cards , 16 Team checklist cards ( common cards ) ...

Plus 227 inserts .....Once again there will be an uneven team set unless the checklists are at the end of the set.....

I don't argue....
I just don't know how much cheaper you can get than $3?
The black parallels are 1:3 in 2014 traders and you could easily pick them up for $1.50 each sometimes even $1. There are going to be 144 special parallels and 45 footy faces at 1:3 in 2015 traders which means there will be over 3 times the amount of 1 face compared to 1 special parallel.

Aside from maybe grabbing a couple of packs here and there to pluck a sig, I think I'll be giving this a miss. 2014 didn't do a lot for me, and this feels more of the same.

Kinda wish they'd do a base card design that doesn't clip out the background of the photo and replace it with some generic looking graphic whipped up in Illustrator in about 10 minutes.

^^^^ I agree I think they need to really differentiate this set from the Elite and by not rendering out the backgrounds would be a good way to do this.

I was only thinking this morning that the chatter for this coming release is almost non-existent; that and the case shares run by both sellers have stalled seem to indicate a lack of faith in the release.

Not sure it being a case of 'faith', but there is a degree of 'fatigue' out there.

Last year, we had Traders, Elite, Powerplay, NSW SoO Box set, Premiers box sets (2 types). I hadn't caught up on 2013 Ltd Edition or the 2013 Premiers set. There was also the Mini footy men collectibles that cost $$$ to finish off too. Then with cricket which I also collect, it went from being no sets to two sets in a matter of weeks. I also finished off some 2002-2010 Select minor chase sets too. All in all, 2014 was one of the bigger years in my collecting years and not only am I still waiting to take a breath, wham, here comes 2015 Traders.

I've seen a lot of people selling stuff off recently including life time collections or heavily rationalising what they collect.

It's now got close to impossible to go for master sets for some and with such an array of chase cards, decisions have to be made on what I will and won't finish off as it does for other collectors.

That said, personally, I am looking forward to Traders as at the end of the day, I love common cards the most.

But I do think there are too many things to collect now.

My wife also rolled her eyes when I said the Traders sheet was out. She was very much "Holy cow...footy season doesn't feel like it finished and it's back again!"

I completely agree with Chris's sentiments. I am a little excited as it is a new release but this is the first release in a while where I will not start with a couple of sealed boxes.

I will grab a few starters and a folder to get some trade bait but the overall level of enthusiasm is just not there as per previous years.

Once I open a few packets that will most likely change but with the price of Select on the rise I am concentrating on older sets for a while

Given that the NZ Distributor is now selling 2014 Traders cases at very, very cheaply together with 5 free 2014 Traders albums and you get the "other" case card thrown in after confirmation, it would seem that ESP have an over-abundance of unsold stock surprise, surprise.

I've stopped collecting so the point is moot, but there is no way in hell I'd ever buy Traders at point of release. The same thing happened with 2013 Traders, the same thing will happen to 2015 Traders if people can wait 9-10 months. In my opinion they really need to reflect on their strategy surrounding this particular 1st of the year release. As I've suggested before, my way forward would be to move the Legends to Elite and have this as a budget release. When all their product is finally released (and I suspect they are sitting on a bucket-load *theory only), we could see the bottom well and truly fall out of the value of these cards. The rugby league card community is a small one.

Having said all that, I hope people do buy a few boxes to ensure support for the dealers on this site, who give us a great service. If people don't support these case shares, they won't be offered anymore and that would be a real shame

* as Digeze rightfully pointed out, no distributor would sell at this price; more a packet price. I think it was more around the $1600 mark

That's a little misleading as the distributor at no point would have ever charged the RRP....Just like most of us don't pay the RRP unless we are purchasing loose packets in a Newsagency.

I don't think I could get last years Traders at that price and I'm assuming that the NZ Distributor price has more to do with them over purchasing and trying to recoup some costs. The 2013 Traders had to be discounted for obvious reasons.

Definitely a fair point on the RRP, but still a BIG drop in price. I believe that the NZ distributor is in communication with ESP to set prices at this time of year (they had to wait a while for this, this year), but that may indeed be after over-purchasing I'm not sure. Good to hear your perspective and to have misnomers cleared up

I have edited my post in regards to RRP
