Does anyone team collect and if so how do you do it without feeling like you are never getting anywhere. I would prefer to just focus on DRob don't we all but his prices are insane. The Spurs have 21,000+ cards and I want to build a comprehensive yet affordable collection but I guess that is not possible. Thoughts and suggestions?

I collect the Timberwolves, and I built it close to 4000 in numbers. I think the key to team collecting is set mini goals. For instance I have my base chase, where I am aiming to get every base card made. Within that I aim to complete product releases for each year and then each years entire base run from all products.

I don't think about what else is out there. I accept I won't ever own them all, and in fact I accept that from time to time I may even need to sell some of my team cards (which I had to do last year unfortunately). I would say the small goals help. Like for instance aim for 100 different autographs or 200 different game used and build from there. Just like in life if you look at the end goal without setting small to moderate goals to get there it will be overwhelming.

Hope that helps some. I am also open to trading you what spurs cards I have for players or team cards I need too :) If you are open to collecting base and low end inserts as well as the other stuff you will find that you will always find things affordable to add :)

Sounds good, I have kinda been collecting Spurs cards on the side without really keeping track of things. I have thought about not collecting anything but DRob but I am not the kinda person that needs 500 autos of the same player and he is in the Silhouette chase I am doing anyway. I think I will still do the spreadsheet to keep track of things (that would be my inner accountant thing) but not worried about getting every card. I reckon being able to get stuff from 1973-today is pretty rewarding in itself. I will have to look at what Timberwolves stuff I have and get back to ya.

I think right now you would have better luck with Kevin Martin (Kings, Rockets, Thunder - the teams he played with before t wolves this year).

maybe try getting a nice card from the starting 5 from every year? 73-14 thats over 200 cards make it challenging try for only auto cards (if possible)

Mate, I've been collecting celtics cards since the late 80's. It was easy back in the day. I have over 5 folders full of cards from 1948-now. Spent heaps on eBay in the early days getting all the old stuff. Lately all I have been doing is getting the base sets and going after a few inserts I like (the team case breaks are good if you're lucky). Also trying to get at least one autograph of each Celtic player per year. Good luck with it all. I collected DRob back in the day also.
