Kiwi basketball new collector cards, jordans

HEY!!! It's another BRU!!!

Hope you get started collecting and talking soon!

In my opinion, don't buy a case! lol You will rarely break even in value, let alone come out on top! Best to just buy the occasional box and spend the rest on single cards!

As far as 'lingo' and abbreviations:

Bru = a fellow member of ozcards that is openly kiwi

PC - Personal Collection (this is intended to refer to cards that are not for sale/trade, but usually just means you have to pay a little more) ;)

Banhammer - refers to the mods deciding you are past your use by date

Blair'in it - refers to a player that spend a whole season on the bench but looks decent when scoring 10 points against the Bobcats in gargabe time

They are the basics, but I'm sure you will come across some others you will need translated! You just need to ask!

Lol che bru ! Im 1/2 kast maori, i am starting from scratch, had a look at the past n present panini set ( not a fan of the look retro feel) any other decently priced ranges? Im not to faded about losing value as i would like to get a set completed so do not mind seeing all the base cards run out just hopefully not to many duplicates.
Also were do i buy folders from/ sleeve inserts to make sure my loot does not get damaged

Another tip for the site: If you hit the reply button at the bottom of the post that you are replying to, the member will get a notification saying that you have replied to them, so they will know to come and read it!

As far as sets, I still think you should just bust the occasional box and then buy singles! If you bust multiple boxes, you will get dozens of base and insert doubles.

Just have a look around the site, possibly in the maildays section and see what cards/designs you like. Then you will be able to decide which set to go for.
There are a few ways to collect a 'set'. You can get every base and insert, or you can go further and get the parallels as well (which is usually crazy because there are lots of rare parallels), or you can just collect 'subsets'.

For example, one of the first sets I completed is 09-10 Upper Deck, which had 200 base cards, 40 rookies, 55 retired players, then insert sets which were 20, 35 and 50 cards in the set. This is a pretty big set, but they are all relatively cheap.

There are plenty of different ways to go about it. I would start to narrow it down by:
  • do you want a cheap set (like the Upper Deck one I did) or do you want a smaller more valuable set?
  • Do you want just base and inserts or do you want autographs or Jersey cards?
  • Do you like sticker autographs or only on card autographs?

Or you may think that this is all too hard and just decide to collect any cards of your favourite players!

Thanks truly for all your imput and helpful tips, Same to everyone else.
I've spent the last 2 hours going through websites/youtube/ebay trying to find prices (becketts cost from what i have seen to find out current "selling prices" etc) do you all pay a subscription to this site ?

If you want to get a "beckett" value which is good for trading not so good for selling the yeah sign up to beckett.

There is one thread on this site where you can ask for a bv (beckett value) on cards.

Most people will most likely go by ebay completed listings to gauge a selling or buying price.

The glossary page you linked stated most people go off what people pay on ebay etc instead of beckett's value theses days.
I actually think i used to have their magazine when i was like 8 or so (or a brand very similiar) im 25 btw.

Thinking of purchasing a case from dacardworld (would you recommend them?) what kind of wait time would people in Australia be waiting for it to arrive? also if possible can you link me to the forum page where they allow you to post a price for beckett values

Lets go Steven Adam's !,

Just found out Adidas will most likely not be selling his singlet (from what a rep said to a NZ reporter), Will now need to 1. buy a Swingman and make my own =)

Highly recommend www.dacardworld.com mate. They are in the USA, but the 3-4 day postage will cost you. I'd probably say between $60-100.

In my opinion UPS is better than USPS.

Other places to buy:

Some members on here such as
Mr paparazzi
A1cardsandgaming
Westriot

Also some guys in the eastern states go to the dandenong markets or Caribbean markets?
