Obstruction Rule

Rugby Legue is becoming a joke with the inconsistency of obstruction rulings. To me obstruction is when an attacking player deliberately makes contact with a defender AND prevents the defender from having a chance at making a tackle. Too often these days the rule is being applied incorrectly and defenders are being rewarded for making a bad read.

Thoughts?

was absolute bull poo. but im happy because his price wont be too inflated in supercoach and i want to buy him soon

Agreed
There Was No Way The Player That Was Impeded Was Ever Going To Get Near Cronk.
I Cant Believe That I Am Defending The Storm :worthy:

That should have been awarded a try. I thought we'd moved on from that kind of thing since the Bill Harrigan days. The refs are making good decisions so far but then you see that.
Didn't affect the result but I wish it had.

Again I reiterate that the current interpretation of the obstruction rule is a joke! Despite being a Raiders fan that first NO TRY to Morris should have been a try, Mcrone would not have had an impact on the play, what a joke!

I think the major change is at it is up to the attacking player to avoid the defender....teacher block runners and decoys to run at gaps and all is good....

The problem is defenders are often being rewarded for bad reads by falling for a decoy runner, making contact and having a no try ruled. Unless an attacker deliberately takes out a defender it should be a try. If this keeps up second man plays which are arguably one of the most simple and effective plays will no longer be used.

Last night was a joke again. The shepharding rule used to be, if an attacking player with the ball ran behind another attacking player, it was deemed a shephard. The obstruction rule as it is now, allows defenders to change their line and purposly run into attacking decoy runners and make it look like they make some sort of feeble attempt and get rewarded. They're also getting rewarded for bad reads on the defenders part. What ever happened to marking up on your man and defending on him.

Defense Are Using The Situation To Their Advantage Now Knowing The Refs Are Going To Blow The Wistle.
Decoy Runners Are Going To Have To Learn How To Side Step So They Dont Collide With The Defense.

O

Or sliding defence? The outside backs always try and run in now to kill the play and if they misread or miss the tackle it s a try. Onus needs to be put back on the defence to read the play and take the right man.
