I have been collecting Kawhi Leonard for a few months now and am making pretty goor progress with it. I have picked up around 5-6 cards that are numbered /10 or less over the last month, as well as a couple of 1/1's and some other nice stuff. Then, I notice the holy grail of Kawhi cards pop up on eBay... The Gold Prizm Jersey #ed 2/10. It started at $599 BIN but someone bid pretty quick so the BIN was no longer available.

I spoke with the seller on the side and he offered it to me for $550 but i just couldn't do it. I would rather a non jersey #ed one for $200 when the hype dies down.

I still kept an eye on it to see its ending price and it ended at........ $709

I looked to see who the winner was and there was discussion as to whether this was legit.

The next day, 2 more cards I was watching were ending, both /10 and were sitting at around $60 each. They both ended for around $160 because this same rich guy won both cards and clearly doesn't care what the cost is!

This morning... again, a card /25 ended for $153 to the same guy!

I guess I just have to resign myself to the fact that I will only ever own cards that this guy already has from now on! I do pretty well as far as ability to buy some nice cards, but I know my limits and won't pay stupid high amounts because I need to outbid a crazy bidder! lol

Now, I in no way 'hate' this guy, because this is the way life is, but I kinda wish he was a Kyrie collector or something! lol

Sell your cards to him at top $$, wait till he gets bored with them, buy back at half price.

I had the same thing with DeMarcus Cousins... First time I sold up, I sold most of my stuff to him for a profit!

Same dude now has 17 of the 25 /25 Cousins RPA's and 33 or the 99 /99's

Had a guy named ExquisiteCollector (you can assume how rich he is by his username haha but he's also really nice) also collect none other than Channing Frye. Stuck it to him and picked up 6 1/1's anyway, but they'll be safely in his PC sometime anyway in the near future

Now that is just Greedy! I don't mind so much that he wants to pay stupid high prices, but now anyone that pulls another is going to think they are the 'market values' even though I have been buying for less than half of that for months!

The only reason they went that high is because I bid high to 'guarantee the win' but clearly he is offer a better 'guarantee' lol

I would be lying if I said I didn't consider listing my 1/1's hahaha

Most annoying thing is he ebay messages me "Hi im a Payton collector, can I buy (card will remain un-named)".

Never had the issue with Aminu, but have noted the odd card go for a pretty crazy price. There seems to be a slew of Kemp collectors with deep pockets and even high number GU go for 4 times the amount of other more prominent players which gets a bit frustrating.

I just can't afford these kinds. I have watched a logoman and a few tags /1 /2 etc go the last few weeks and plenty of RPAs and they all just cruise on through my ebay watch list and out the other end .. /weep

I feel your pain too, although probably a lot less... Started collecting vucevic at the start of the season and by week 10 his cards starting rising... Nothing over the top but now his certified green($200), prizm golds($250) are out of my reach.. The absolute tag 1/1 came on eBay and I'm like yea this is mine.. Thinking it would be max $100ish, went for over $350 from memory...

I remember those days when Dave was out-bidding me by $0.50 on every auction because he's got a much deeper wallet. But I have outlasted him it seems, now I am up against some crazy international Shaq collectors. Most of the time, I am just feeding on the leftovers that they already have. I struggle to win any rare cards since these guys are all over them.
