To be fair, whilst the announcement did ingeniously push Craig Thomson, a limp Resource Rent Tax and a failed surplus target off the front page, it's a bit glib to dismiss the whole 18 month investigation between ASADA and the ACC as a political smokescreen. Have to remember its not purely about drugs, but also criminal activity and match fixing. This is politics though, and deflecting heat is something both sides are very proficient at.

It's a shame they couldn't use the positive results of the Carbon Tax instead. :D

For what its worth though, I don't like the way it was handled. Every sports person in this country was tarred with the same vague brush. They could've consulted with code and club bosses before hand so that they could go public and name the specific codes and clubs involved.

Nope, that's USADA.

EDIT:
Though I'm pretty sure they'd only been after Armstrong since 2011. Prior to that was Federal Inquiry in 2010. Before that there was only rumour and accusations but nothing official except for UCI putting its fingers in its ears and telling everyone to shut up.

Read on another forum that Parramatta are trying to sign Tony Puletua from the St Helens club to bolster their pack, with Huddersfield having already released Luke O'Donnell to the Roosters cash strapped ESL clubs may well follow suit, the GFC has hit the UK harder than here and they are still experiencing it.

Dragons (Illawarra Cutters) signed Junior VaiVai for 1 year. Dont know much about him, says winger or centre.

He's been around a while but still young, hasn't played much NRL. I'd say he just adds a bit of depth in the centres for the Cutters a good signing by McGregor hopefully.

Big chance of Corey Norman and Robbie farah both going to the eels apparently.

and apparently despite Andrew Gees denial Brisbane has made a huge offer to Thurston.

it is spreading like wild fire that both those players will be EELS next year, smoke there's fire scenario

normans a done deal and will be announced very soon. Dunno about farah.

Brisbane letting Norman and perhaps hunt go in hopes of signing JT and trying to cash in on some short term success at the detriment of our long term success,

Phil Gould has put a colour through his hair. Still looks stupid.
