Even if Select did keep number one card, who in Select would own it and what will they do with it?

Exactly! They are card producers, not collectors.

If I owned a business, I wouldn't do something that so obviously pisses off my customer base - for pretty much no reason. If I wanted a card personally, I'd buy a case myself out of my own money and get busting!

i agree with the majority. make your mind, are you a collector or a manufacturer? give your customers the full print run, and make just one unserial numbered, or 0 serial numbered one for your own archives or displays or whatever your doing.

*edit i just voted no and turns out im not with the majority. so most of you would keep it? i feel you would think differently when you look from a business point of view rather then a collector with the 'kid in the candy store' kind of vibe happening.

I believe Select are keeping these for a rainy day. No other reason to keep them. Wait until they are going bust and these will all be all up for auction. Start puttin your pennys away. Just think how much you could make if you had all the number one cards NRL & AFL up your sleeves basically for free................. = MOTZA

This. And keep 000.

I care not for low or high numbers so I'm not too fussed but I can see why some people get upset that there is no chance of getting #1.

I'm not worried about low numbers myself ... the thing I find concerning is they advertise that these cards have been produced in certain quantities, then don't allow all of them to hit the market. How can they say there's 100 of the Lockyer sigs available this year, when they keep number one?

It's very dodgy, imo.
