Okay I find this idea of Matty's to do write ups quite entertaining, and its always interesting to see the way people write up the results of their game!

So I've created my semi fantasy (Starting lineup anyway) Minny team.

Center: Christian Laettner
Power Forward: Kevin Garnett
Small Forward: Wally Szczerbiak
Shooting Guard: Isaiah Rider (Rookie)
Point Guard: Stephon Marbury

Bench: Kandi, Spree, Hassell, Hudson, McCants (Rookie), Griffin, Madsen

5 min quarters, Pro (to begin with been a while hehe), 29 Game season, Playoffs 5-5-5-5

News Brief:
St Paul: New GM Aj Stuart has already hinted at some changes if this Timberwolves team doesn't gel under coach Dwayne Casey. Great things are expected following the departure of Kevin McHale, whom Glen Taylor finally sacked for years of ineptitude!

Coach Casey looks forward to seeing how his star recruit out of UNLV, Isaiah Rider matches up against the Toronto Raptors in the first game of the season. Casey hopes that with a couple of years under his belt Rider, can provide the fire power needed to help lead Minnesota and Kevin Garnett to the NBA Finals.

lol, funny stuff!

I hope that Rook hasnt got 99 All-Stats....

I'm about to start a Mavs one for 2K7. Just getting the Rosters finalised.

Halftime in Minnesota and the Timberwolves had an early 7 point lead.
Kevin Garnett leading from the front for the wolves with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Olowokandi came on and played well while Garnett had a breather, helping combat Rafer Alston who scored 17 points in the half; however Alston suffered foul trouble having conceeded 3 fouls in the first half. The substitution of Alston out of the game had a serious impact upon the Raptors, with Stephon Marbury snaring 3 consecutive steals out of the hand of Jose Calderon.

Final Score 83 - 67 does not do justice to the tight fourth quarter which saw the Raptors on the back of Bosh rebounding insanely well against Garnett, draw within 4 points. The turning point was Marbury sitting for the Wolves having committed 5 fouls, and Rashad McCants joining Rider in the backcourt to combine for nine unanswered points, the wolves eventually drawing clear for a first up home victory.

Player of the game: Kevin Garnett 27 pts, 9 Reb, 3 Asts, 2 Blocks and 1 steal.

Rookies: Rider 20 pts, 3 Reb, 2 Blocks, 3 steals.
McCants 5 pts, 2 reb, 5 assists, 2 steals.

Raptors best: Chris Bosh 9pts, 14 reb
Alston 24pts, 1 assist, 1 steal.

Minnesota came crashing back to earth when visiting the Milwaukee Bucks, losing by 4 points despite several last ditch efforts by McCants and Szczerbiak to bring them back. Minnesota led comfortably most game but slumped (no surprise) when number one fan Terry Post entered the arena (a mate of mine showed up heehee).

In the third game of the season the Timberwolves faced a lacklustre Chicago Bulls outfit (who were controlled by an inept Mr Post) and romped home a 30 point win with Kevin Garnett starring with 9 rebounds and 30 points. Marbury also had his best game before being benched after nearly fouling out for a second consecutive game.

Owner AJ Stuart has some concerns and will be paying close attention to the play of Christian Laettner and Michael Olowkandi and has not ruled out making a trade move for a better center, with Troy Hudson and the much maligned Latrell Sprewell to be the trade bait.

LOL

noticed you have become owner, moving up from GM when you first started, interesting. Has Glen Taylor been "fired" for his years of stupidity and reckless behaviour as well? Will the centre you acquired be Joe Smith? Felton Spencer? Randy Breuer? Luc Longley?

Woops! I think my assistant accidentally quoted my hopes and dreams....

GM Aj Stuart ;) Though I do believe I have some secret financial backers willing to back me if Minny doesn't go to at least the Western Conference Championships this season. An uproar may be had forcing Taylor to sell.

Could be Luc Longley will make a comeback - though I must admit Felton SPencer does appeal, though rumours have it STanley Roberts has become young and spritely again. Other possibilities include Rasho Nesterovic and Dean Garrett. Paul Grant applied for the team, begged, and moand too.... but I don't hire complete arses, unlike Isiah Thomas at New York.

Any other questions from the Minnesota Free Press?

When is Casey going to get shown the door? and are you going to follow Zeke's footsteps and join the bench?

Rumours abound about the availability of KG, with Chicago possibly makes bids. Is this correct or is this in another reality?

The people of Minnesota would also like to see Rick Rickert, Steve Johnson and Stacey King added to the list of possible centres...

Currently Casey has a record of 2-1, it is too early to call on his coaching. I would rather focus on the off-court decisions, while a man I have utmost confidence in focuses on the on-court.

Kevin Garnett will NOT be traded. I gaurandamtee an NBA title for Kevin Garnett, with the Minnesota Timberwolves, within the next two years! KG Remains the centerpiece of this franchise and I am sure will fulfil his dreams with the support of our two top rookies and the future of our franchise, in Rider and McCants.

Rick Rickert, puhlease and Steve Johnson? Sorry who the hell was he?

TWolves Rookie leads from the front
Philadelphia, PA In a match up billed as an early season guide as to how the Timberwolves would perform this year many pundits were surprised. The 4 - 0 Philadelphia 76ers fell to a much improved Timberwolves outfit, 97 - 93, who now move to 3 - 1 on the season.

The game was very much run and gun with Allen Iverson leading the charge for the 76ers, amassing 24 points at the half while for the Timberwolves Kevin Garnett continued his steady form with 18 at the half. However the highlight of the night definitely came in the tight first quarter when Rookie Guard Isaiah Rider rose from the dust to swat the ball away from 76ers Center Samuel Dalembert in a monster block which shifted momentum the Timberwolves way. Scores remained locked together at halftime at 42 a piece.

During the second half Iverson continued to push from the front adding 22 points to his total finsihing the game with 46 points and 4 assists with neither Marbury, McCants or even Rider able to combat his effectiveness. Marbury finished the game with 10 assists but fouled out halfway through the fourth, allowign Rider to take over at the point... where he constantly drove through the lane, drawing important fouls and sinking an incredible 16 from 16 from the charity stripe.

Other notable performances include Christain Laettner's 9 rebounds - it appears trade rumours have not gone unnoticed by the former Dream Team member who had a point to prove to GM Aj Stuart. Garnett finished with 30 pts and 4 rebounds. Rider earned his first player of the game award with 34 pts, 3 reb, 6 ast, 1 block and 4 steals.

For Philadelphia the only other notable performance was Chris Webber with his 10 rebounds and several monster jams that reminded this observer of his Golden State days.

Wolves Stun Heat

Minneapolis, MN Bouyed following their huge win against Philadelphia, the Timberwolves looked to take that good form into the match against defending NBA Champions the Miami Heat.

The Wolves started slowly with Heat Guard Jason Williams finding Wade on numerous occasions, giving the Heat an early 11 - 3 lead. Wade was taking Wolves rookie Isaiah Rider to school, and not a single member of the team looked like they wanted to help out on defense. Laettner and Garnett were picking up fouls rather quickly and Marbury just did not have his game face on. Shaq was slamming it home and grabbing every board with a hunger not seen in several years. Yet somehow the Wolves manage to claw their way into the game, battling to the half for a 4-point deficit.

The trend continued in the third quarter with Wade continuing to school the Timberwolves rookie, the one notable difference was Kevin Garnett was working his way into the game and a tandem partnership with Olowakandi who replace Laettner who sat with foul trouble. Liking what he saw Coach Dwayne Casey benched Laettner for the rest of the game and watched as KG and Kandiman went to work swatting the likes of Wade and Haslem. The game turner came when Kevin Garnett swatted Shaq in the fourth quarter. Marbury took a hold of the ball and bounded up the floor, pulling up at the top of the 3 point arc and swishing nothing but net to draw the Wolves within one.

Wade attempted to drag the vistors back into the game but the wolfpack frenzy only worsened when Marbury hit his second trey in a row to give the Wolves the lead for the first time in the game. Trenton Hassell was subbed in for Rider to provide extra defence and 5 more points and a couple of assists to monster KG jams from Marbury helped see the Wolves home, with Wally Szczerbiak benefiting from several late intentional fouls as the teams best three frow shooter. The Timberwolves sent the heat packing with a final score of 90 - 77.

Other Key points of note: Kevin Garnett took his second player of the game award with his first double-double of the season; 30 pts and 10 reb. Marbury was hot in the 4th with 11 points, but also drew his 5th foul of the game and his 22nd foul in the previous 4 games, having fouled out twice, a testament to his aggressive ball hawking and perhaps some diminishing skills. Wally World had his best game for the season with a personal high of 19 points and 3 rebounds.

For Miami; Dwyane Wade finished with 29 points and 3 assists, taking Minnesota's Isaiah Rider to school. Jason Williams was the player of the game for his side however; with a total 32 points and 3 assists. Shaq owned the boards with a total of 14 for the day.

Wizards Cast Spell over Wolves

Minneapolis, MN Timberwolves fans packed out the Target Center expecting to see more of the classy play that saw their team defeat the Miami Heat earlier in the week, but left bitterly disappointed when the Wizards led by Antonio Daniels (20 pts, 9 ast and 5 reb) and Gilbert Arenas (22 pts and 2 ast) played team orientated ball that saw them home 87 - 83 against the home team.

The Timberwolves started well with Stephon Marbury opening the game with two consecutice treys, unfortunately Marbury went cold, and kept shooting from beyond the arc - allowing the Wizards to storm to the front. At the half Washington led 43 - 37.

The Timberwolves played considerably better ball in the third quarter led by rookie Rashad McCants who came on in place of Marbury who was in foul trouble. Highlights being several monster ally-oop dunks, courtesy of classy passes by the teams assist leader on the night (with 7) Isaiah Rider. Scores going into the final break were dead even on 58 following a Mccants trey right on the buzzer.

Arenas helped the Wizards get to a four point lead early on, which is when Rider stepped up for the Timberwolves and hit 3 last quarter treys, two of which brought the Wolves level, one with only 1:23 left on the clock. Heroics of the two Timberwolves guards were not enough, because Antwan Jamison owned the boards with 11 rebounds, leaving Kevin Garnett seriously lagging behind with only the 4, which some observers believe added to the woes of a team banking their chances in this game on the shooting of to rookies.

In the end the Timberwolves were lucky to be as close as they were as the defensive pressure lacked any potency.

Other points of note: Rookie Isaiah Rider finished with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists and 3/5 from the 3-point arc in the final quarter. Kevin Garnett scored his usual with 23 points, 4 rebounds and six blocks. Rookie McCants had his best game of the season with 16 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

Wolves Rout Mavs

Dallas, Tx The Minnesota Timberwolves arrived in Texas to face confrence rivals Dallas on the back of a stinging loss to the Wizards. Star Forward Kevin Garnett had a point to prove and went on a rampage early on for the Timberwolves, dominating the boards with 7 in the first quarter, completely outplaying Mavs bigman Dirk Nowitzki. Garnetts scoring power was also on show, racking up 18 points during the first quarter and the first part of the second quarter, leading the Timberwolves to a 25 - 11 lead at 1/4 Time.

The Timberwolves looked to be flying high, but everyone in the arena fell momentarily silent as KG flew for a dunk only to come crashing down to the ground having been fouled by Dirk and suffering from what looked to be a nasty leg injury. Griffin was substitued in for KG and the Wolves continued their momentum with Rookie Guard Isaiah Rider handing out the dimes. At the half the Wolves led 55 - 32.

From halftime onwards the Timberwolves had to fight hard as a team, a Dirk came back into the game strongly, not needing to take on KG's class under the boards. Marbury continued to get into foul trouble, which has been a regular occurence for the veteran guard, while his opponent Jason Terry continued to rip it up on his way to a Mavs high 28 points and 4 assists for the game.

Despite the efforts of Dirk and Terry the Mavs only clawed back 4 points to be down 47 - 66 at the final break. The fourth quarter saw a Mavs comeback of sorts, but they were never really in the game after the initial first quarter blowout and finished the game losing 70 - 84 at home. The Timberwolves once again proving themselves a little inconsistent, but at least they are beating the good sides, just to work on beating the poor sides.

Highlight of the night for the Timberwolves was Rookie Guard Isaiah Rider completing his first Triple-Double with 15 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds. Other ntoable was Eddie Griffin scoring 10 points off the bench in Kevin Garnett's absence.

For the Mavs Dirk had 11 Rebounds, Finley 20 points and Terry 28 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Power Rankings after this game had the Timberwolves sitting at 10.

Wolves Dominate Texas Roadtrip

Houston, Tx & San Antonio, Tx The Minnesota Timberwolves continued their Texas roadtrip with an absolute belting of the Houston Rockets in a team effort yet seen by Timberwolves fans. The rockets were completely shutdown by the defence of Garnett and Marbury and blown away by the duo's scoring power and the flair of rookie guard Isaiah Rider.

Final score in the Texas Massacre was 95 - 59. Key performers for the Timberwolves include Marbury who was player of the game with his first triple double of the season (14 points, 13 assists, 10 steals and 3 rebounds). Keving Garnett returned from an injury against the Mavs to score 31 points and pick up 4 rebounds. Isaiah Rider scored 23 points, had 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.

The best for the Rockets was Mike James with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, although he committed numerous turnovers with his loose ball control. Stromile Swift had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wolves moved on to face rivals the Spurs and found themselves in a tight tussle, with scores fairly even for the entirety of the game until the last minute of the final quarter when the class of Kevin Garnett (player of the game with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals) and the continually improving game of Mccants (10 points, 2 assists) and Rider (22 points, 5 assists, 5 steals, 4 rebounds) saw the wolfpack home 96-88.

Duncan tried hard for the Spurs but didn't get close to matching KG who had 9 point sin the first 90 seconds of the game. In the end the best for the Spurs was Tony Parker with 35 points and 6 assists. (OMG just looknig at my schedule it appears not to have saved that one against the spurs but I did dammit... :()

The Timberwolves left Texas ecstatic with a 3 game winning streak (well hopefully since I now have to play it again grrr) they look to use as motivation against the Nuggets.
