The Official NEW YORK KNICKS thread

ahh man, i don't know how they can resign him now with 2 decent pgs already. this is a disaster.
I'm watching the development on this one and I feel that they will still match Houston's offer. I think they will still make a lot more money out of Jeremy, alot more than what they will pay on luxury taxes.

So we find out tomorrow if the Knicks will match the Lin offer. Not really sure if I want him to stay or go at this point.

let lin walk....felton and kidd will be fine for you guys. lin hasnt proved his worth all that $$ the rockets are offering him. lin has proved himself in a 2 week period, i wonder how he will go in a full 82 game season. people forget about the game when the heat shut him down, he went 1-11 or something.

Excited to go to a team that thought he was a scrub?

Dolan just made one of the dumbest decisions in Knicks history by letting him go, so much for "money is no object"!

are you kidding me? if you re-signed him, ya'll would be in massive money trouble in 3 years.

Ahhh no we wouldn't, the money wouldnt go against the cap, it would only be tax. He would make the team 50 times what the tax would be

Well think about it, it's a good choice for both teams. For the Knicks you guys already have 2 PG's in Kidd and Felton, so a third PG who got overpaided wouldn't be the smartest idea to match the offer. The only bad thing you could say about the Knicks here is that they coulda matched the offer and then trade him to at least get something for him.

Houston needed a PG and needed to got some people in those seats. Even though they overpaided, they get both of these things done. It's a massive risk because we don't know how Lin will turn out (he will be at least an average PG IMO) but it really is one Houston had to take.

See mate this is what you don't understand, you can not "overpay" a man that would make your team hundreds of millions.

Spot on. I was travelling around South America and Europe when the whole Linsanity thing hit and he was on every channel and in every language I could not understand. I even caught him at one stage on MSNBC Business channel talking about the financial impact of Linsanity

How do you know that? His knees could bum out again (i hope they dont, but you never know.)
you could essentially say that about every player out there - didn't clips just sign griffin to a $95 million contract.

maybe it should have said:

See mate this is what you don't understand, you can not "overpay" a man that would potentially make your team hundreds of millions.

How he plays means nothing if he is in NY, Asians will go mad for him no matter what in that market. My wife's Chinese cousins that know nothing about basketball wouldn't shut up about Lin, anyone would think he is Lebron
