How stupid are the Liverpool keepers' getting? Pat on the back to Brad Jones though, good save and dedicated it to his son.

I'm a little late on the discussion of why we follow the team we do. In like 1989 my old man gave me a tape of Liverpools greatest moments(he wasn't a English football fan being fro Glasgow). I watched that video almost everyday and loved seeing a player named Steve Heighway flying up the wing and hearing the commentator yelling his name. I didn't know at the time who was the team winning everything or who was the best players, but everyday when I played out the back with my brother I was Steve Heighway and that's what started me love affair with Liverpool Football Club . I'm a very loyal fan of the teams I follow and will stick by them no matter how they are performing.

One of the games on my video (I still own the video)

Alot of people nowadays jump on the bigger teams..... because they get the most exposure..... UTD, CHELSEA, REAL, BARCA,
Funny when you come across some one that say they follow united and you ask them to name a defender and they got no idea even worse when you ask for a striker and they cant even name Rooney.
I have an italian upbringing and always used to watch the football on the tv with my grandfather, he was born in naples and always a die hard napoli fan. But the first team I remember was Utd and bryan robson...... would be mid to early 80's .... hughes, mcclair, bruce, strachan.
but unfortunatley remember my dislike for liverpool... even with some great players... rush, aldridge, barnes, johnson, and grobbelar.
I also follow juventus much to my grandfathers disgust....lol and have followed them thru thick and thin.
And a favorite is wolves.. back in the day when they used to be in fourth div... thanks to a game called football director on the commodore 64.
watched them climb the ladder from 4th to 2nd div in successive season with the help of steve bull scoring a few 50 goal seasons. I liked the name the wanderers and the colour of the uniforms.... but had dissapointment when they sacked mccarthy. they will head back down to the championship.

Pele's on of those people in life who were amazing at what they did and then tarnish it somewhat by opening their mouths. David Campese is another who springs to mind immediately..

City dominating at the half - United and linesman hanging on at the DW!!

Is it just me or has the refereeing, or more accurately, the linesmen's decisions been way off the last month. It's almost laughable when the same linesman stuffs up so bad twice in the same game - luckily the decisions were 1-1 in the Wigan game.. ridiculous chalkoff in the first half for Wigan, then he evens it up by not calling a blatant handball for United! How he doesn't see that when there's clear air and no one in front I'll never know.

Then there was the terrible non offside for Ivanovic's goal vs Wigan, the offside for the Young penalty/sending off vs QPR vs United.. there's been some absolute shockers lately...

I hope if the race at the top and bottom gets closer that they get back to doing a good job as they have done for most of the year.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini claimed his side's title chances were over despite an unexpected twist in the race for the Premier League crown.

Mancini feels it may be too little too late.Mancini said: ''United are a fantastic team and I don't think they can lose five points. For us it is important that we finish this good season for us well.

This is the best season since 1968 and this is important.''I fight always, every day, and also my team but now I think it is too late. I think they have fantastic spirit, United. We don't have the same spirit and for this reason I think this is very difficult.''

Actually was at OT for the Fulham game and we looked scratchy all game, needless to say Wigan although barring this morning by actually beating us for once are a tough team regardless of their ladder position.
For the record @ ljandkg "U calling it now?? Funny - here's a United fan come outa the woodwork after saying nothing all year..."
I was born in Manchester 33 years ago - so I don't really need to prove myself!! LOL But for the record I have only ever been on here for basketball related stuff and only noticed this discussion last night!! I watched my team get our butt's handed to us in the 80's by the likes of LFC so, yeah it's nice to hope for a 20th, although we have a lot of work to do to keep the blue half of town at bay! Would like to see another medal around the old boys necks (Giggsy and Scholes)
Would love to still have had Silvestre in defence - Never a huge fan favourite but a hard worker, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still so sorely missed as that game saving goal poacher.....Ah the good old days!! Maybe we would be winning at least 2-0 instead of the last gasp 1-0 wins...again, barring this morning LOL

havent heard solskjaers name in a while. isnt he coaching now? will never forget the 4 he put past everton coming off the bench. but this team is incomparable to the one in the early-late 90s. missing alot more than a super-sub and solid defender. rooney and welbeck are no cole and yorke.

The baby faced assassin went back to Norway to coach his original club. I think he won the title in his first season back (?)

In my opinion our best strike force - Cole and Yorke. Maybe not the flashiest nor the most skilled as individuals..but together, Ultimate duo! Was lucky enough to Meet Andy Cole in Malaysia and Dwight when he came to play against Perth Glory with Sydney FC. 2 signed shirts that I framed together for that very reason of being a great duo. Le King - Eric Cantona and Roy Keane would be welcome additions to my all time United line up!!

In Fact here is my 11 plus 6 benchies

Peter Schmeichel
Rio Ferdinand
Gary Neville
Mikael Silvestre
Roy Keane
Eric Cantona
Denis Law
David Beckham
Ryan Giggs
Andy Cole
Dwight Yorke

Subs:
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Paul Scholes
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Teddy Sherringham
Sir Bobby Charlton
Edwin Van der Saar

Looking back I could change about 6 or 7 of these with some bigger names but I like this as a solid and hard working line up

What about George Best? Need the "Holy Trinity" together!

At the risk of persecution from fellow reds - A bit over rated ... Was a good player but not the greatest much like another #7 Cristiano Ronaldo!! Both brilliant when they felt like it (based on stories from my Grandfather and footage I have seen) but also more the "Pop Star" footballers
Look, you could say what about Rooney,Irwin,Bruce,Hughes,Kanchelskis,Butt,P Neville,Jaap Staam etc etc but you could do that all week!! LOL

/\/\ no way. george best is one of the best players ever. no question. ronaldo doesnt come close to him. #5 on my personal all time list. and he wasnt even trying...
and theres only 3 defenders on your list? and none on your bench?!

Agree. I have seen interviews with Sir Bobby and even he has said he is one of the greatest. Threw it awsy but was definately one of the best.

my all time westham team:

rio ferdinand*

Hehehe new that would happen!! Don't get me wrong I do admire Best but just not as much as some others - Mainly coz I was not alive whilst he was playing so like anything, who or what you grew up with stays with you more so.
My most prized Utd piece (Well, on card anyway) is the UD Legends edition George Best auto /100
Yeah could've picked way more in defence but I am more partial to midfield with a 4/4/2 set up!! LOL
Anyway, apologies to all non United fans, didn't meant to turn this into a Red Devils reunion. No more from me on the matter

i wasnt alive when best played either (unfortunately), but ive seen alot of his football. genius. its all subjective tho. everyones got there own lists...
