'bout time too!!

They have won 4 Championships since '99 yet the franchise still needed to achieve one more thing before they would be considered a TRUE success.... they needed their own thread on OCT.

... now its here!!

Kickstart!!

Patty Mills to join.... due to TJ's retirement

Jacks Back!!! And opened his Scoring with a 3 Ball against Dallas!

DeJuan Blair is kicking it up with excellent efficiency, but for some reason is only getting up to 20mins court time??

TP for MVP!!!

It's a scary thought when you think they have done this well with pretty much zero input from Manu!

Green has been a massive pick up for me, and Leonard!

Sleeper? Hardly! Along with OKC and maybe Dallas, they are the only Finals threats from the West so far... But we all saw what happened in the first round last year didn't we!?

Boring as batshit to watch, but one of the greatest fundamental teams ever and it has bought them success which is what its all about!

i dont think blair gets too many minutes because he is a midget. He does his buit, gets blocked 7 times a game!!!! Cant wait to see the Argentinian pizza maker in manu start to close out games. There was a wisper of chris kaman possibly heading to the spurs too.

I love how there's no whoopin it up like ALOT of the pretender teams out there when Kawhi dunked it. The Spurs have always been my favourite because of the way they go about their business. No salutes, no dancing like d#*ks.

I get excited by a team that knows how to run a pick n roll time and time again and rip teams apart with the same move but in diferent ways. Same as the way they run their Defense. Rotating and helping out.

Those teams with all the crazy (and yes amazing) plays like the Clippers (how many have jumped on that bandwagon now?) and even Miami (love to dance) really annoy me. Like when Griffen dunked the funk on Perkins and Jordan nearly tackles him with excitement. Get over it, it was 2 points.

Give me classy, "boring" and great team Defense over Alley oops, no class and a loss any day of the week.

It does'nt matter if the Spurs lost in the first round or in the conference finals. If it did'nt end with a banner being raised then the season was a failure.

I did wonder how long it was gonna take for someone to use the word "boring" to describe the Spurs. That's been used for a decade now. Time for a new one.

The old saying is if the shoe fits? Im actually surprised you didn't attack me for not having a great basketball knowledge base like you did another member in a previous thread......

Your right, first round lost or conference finals lost, the season is still a bust for any team that has the expectations/regular season/team that the Spurs had....I thought the same of the Bulls losing to the Heat last year.

The Spurs are boring, have been for a decade, no need for a new word to describe them, but in case you got all worked up before you read the rest of my post, it has bought them great success in the last 10 years! They have been an awesome franchise for the last decade, but they are boring to watch! I've got no issues with it winning them games, and neither should die hard Spurs fans, I just find it funny that people like yourself tend to need a box of tissues or a punching bag when they get called for it!

Fair call!.... but only because 'Boring' is an opinionated description!

I don't find the Spurs boring AT ALL!! Maybe it is because I appreciate different things to what others like!

I like a team

that can adapt to any opponent
that can expose weaknesses
that can play the same game plan regardless of the effects, until told otherwise
that gets the job done and doesn't get caught up in the bulltish
that doesn't react to arrogance/intimidation
that takes the effective shot instead of the 'pretty' one
that makes a real player out of a second round pick

I could go on!!

HA HA, attack? yeah it was brutal. I did go way over the top did'nt I?

Hardly.

That guy that I "attacked" had Allen Iverson I believe as his profile name and an OKC pic as his avatar (totally fine by the way). But....Iverson was a freak but he was very selfish and a bit of a thug (definately no role model). Let's face it, have a look at where he is now (struggling). OKC (who I do rate highly because of their mix of amazing plays with tough defense) is his team by the looks (bandwagon) was he a Seattle fan???If so, fair play to him.

I just get annoyed with people that use the word boring with the Spurs. Alot of people find them exciting. I found the 04 Pistons VERY exciting and they played the same way. Tough Defense. So many "fans" out there don't understand that Defense has exactly the same importance as offense in basketball.

Great post. "Makes a real player out of a second round pick is probably my favourite".

Could add:

a team that's gonna retire a guy's jersey (Bruce Bowen) with a career stat line of:

6.1 PPG
2.8 RPG
1.2 APG

Now that is class.
