Sneak Peak Part 2

I am really looking foward to this series. The only disappointing thing is that they didn't continue with the star signature series or have a chase card that is more than 1:36.

I am thinking I will buy one sealed box but as the odds of the inserts are not as high I might end up buying more loose packets and see if I can get tinny and smash the odds!

For my sets of stickers, I will be going over the edges with a fine tooth comb. My silver set will have to be in out of the pack condition or its useless to me.

Problem is Blade that with Select ATM, out of the pack condition can be a very damaged card.

Yeah well said Dave. It will be very interesting to see what they are like in hand. So many ways they can get damaged.

One way for Cronulla to start getting the higher end cards is to start performing in the NRL, and consistently. No way they or any other team will get the good stuff from the NRL unless they turn up to play every week and are their for the GF as winners.

pfftt Cronulla have been to hell and back the last couple of years most clubs would not have survived what thery have gone thru we have had to sacrifice a lot of thing as a club to make ends meet
the future of the club is still in the air
the sharks are owned by the members and fans we are not owned by news limited and pretty much have a whole states support

we have a great group of LOCAL youngsters from the SUTHERLAND SHIRE who want to play for the sharks the best i have seen for years
most people forget we finished equal 1st in 2008 with a pretty much unknown squad where were all the high end cards that year?

plus i really dont give a f**k if there sharks dont get a high end card ever again as long as i still have the cronulla sutherland sharks around to support

You all have to remember that all the signature & high end cards are always picked by the NRL around the Dally M & Awards. Not by popular clubs.

All the more important for a team to perform consistently so it does get some off the Dally M awards, and winning some grand finals, that's how you become a popular club.

Well this morning I was thinking about the DIY stickers etc for the new Champs set and thought of two potential problems, they are:

1. What if the frames have player details on the rear of the card; and
2. What is a complete set of silver stickers does not make a complete set of Gold parallel cards

that would mean that the price for a parallel set would go thru the roof, to sell a silver set you would have to supply the silver stickers and a set of frames so in fact you would be supplying 3 sets of cards, frames, silvers and gold cards.................sheez

So I rang Di at Select to clarify a couple of things and was told that the frames all have a generic back so that is good and also that a set of silver stickers once peeled will give you a set of gold cards, so that is also good.

I still think the resale price of the silver stickers will be higher than everyone expects as I think there is not going to be enough cards for every collector to have multiple parallel sets. Many kids who buy a pack will peel off the sticker and put it on their school books, wall or anywhere they can stick them.

I also questioned Di about the stickers themselves, Di told me that the process used for the stickers means they will come off the gold card very easy and then will bond with the frame easily also, I still think care is the order of the day with these stickers though.

Dave

So the frame is separate or does the gold card pop out to create a frame??

Given they are 2:3 packs I wonder how easy it will be to identify the packs?? If the frames are separate i wonder if they are in each pack or just 2:3 packs?

Also i was told there are 25,000 boxes in this release. So that's 24 per box x 25000 = 600,000 cards which is approx 3300 sets available in theory - that's quite a bit when you compare it to other parallel releases even with people collecting 2 sets.

Will be interesting to see how these look in hand and if they take off or not.

The Frame is it's own seperate card in packs. The question will be is there a frame in every pack or just the packs with a parallel. Your right if it's just the packs with parallel cards then they will have an issue with the size of packets differing unless they use a decoy card.

If the packets with the Sticker card has a frame in it then the frame will probably be classed as a card ....With 10 cards a packet the packets with the frame should also have a Sticker and 8 common cards ....

If it is anything like last year the inserts and stickers will be in the middle of the packet amongst the cards .....

Makes sense as that would still be 10 cards per pack with 8 cards , gold card and the framed sticker once peeled. Problem solved!!

Owen, where does the figure of 25000 boxes come from, that's 2083 cases.........a hell of a lot of product.

Steve Wang - its a pretty standard production run for Champions. 2010 was 25,000 boxes, it sold poorly and they only made 20,000 boxes last year but they are back up to 25,000 this year.

If you have seen the Cardzone price guide wang has those production numbers all listed.

Most years theres about 1000 cases for collectors & another 800 to 1000 for Newsagents(which don't have case cards in them).
a total of 1800 to 2000 cases. So Owen is on the money with his facts as usual.

These sticker cards are causing quite the stir! When I was 12 years old I reckon I would have lapped them up - they could prove a real hit with kids. I wouldn't be surprised if Select introduced them as the youth-orientated replacement for the bobble-head gems. A good move. Damn pleased I'm not a completist though!
