Sneak Peak Part 2

Yeah but 1 of 1 signature cards or even 1 of 50 signature cards isn't fair for the majority of fans. Most cannot afford those prices. Cards should be there for all to collect or at least the majority to be able to collect
i bet you very much that if you pulled a legend laurie daley raider 1 of 1 signature who's cares about the rest of the collectors ? right ?

Even if the prices are near to the mark it will still be close to a $1000 ( with 1 set of Stickers ) to $1200 ( with 2 sets of stickers ) for a complete set as there will be at least 2 case cards and maybe 3 with that as well as at least 2 folders .......

So it will still be a reasonably expensive set to complete .....
Your right Warren but I more meant in comparison to other champions set. Last year was getting onto $2k for a set and even 2010 was pretty expensive with those diamond cards costing near $100 when they first come out. I think its going to be hard to charge big money for a set with the highest insert ratio being 1:36.

No Panthers , Dragons or Roosters in the Rookie Standouts ???? Correct me if I am wrong .....

No rookies performed in those clubs ....Surely there must have been 1 player .....

i am taking a guess here but the Centurions cards must be a clear gem card as the image on the back is a mirror of what's on the front

But Daniel there would be no chance of just a fan getting a card like that as something like that would go to the sellers who buy cases & cases of them. Of course id be happy if I got such a card but I don't like the idea of cards that only one person can collect. If you want a one of a kind signed card get a common card & ask the player to sign it to you. There's a one of one signature that everyone can aspire to get :)

Sandor Earl was good for us?

roosters hayd boyd cordner.

dragons - no idea.

Sandor was good in late 2010 - I don't recall him even getting onto the field in 2011 due to injury. I was miffed when I saw no Panthers in the rookie set, but I'd rather Select cut clubs than include rookies to make up the numbers. It is a "standouts'' set afterall. Still, there was nothing stopping them from including Nafe Seluini - bar the NRL.

I really like the new ideas select have come up with, at least they are having a go. I am however disappointed that they didn't continue with the star signature series for those clubs that were un-represented from Champions 2011. I thought that when they put the pollo ut on their website and the response to keeping the signature cards in was overwhelming they would continue on but ah well!

I know select would need to pay the QRL and NSWRL but surely we need some Origin inserts and maybe even some test inserts again. Can you imagine an origin redemption set, how good would that be! I would be happy to pay more per packet if they did this.

Had a good read of the cards we are going to get and it's going to be a interesting series. But as a collector i'm disappointed in no signature cards as they were something i enjoyed to get when you break open a box.

A small, picky gripe of mine : In the past, Champions cards had the entire photo on the card. I liked being able to see other players in the background of each card - looks like that's all a thing of the past now, as I think the 2000 set was the last non-champions/accolade/tradition set to have full photos. Ah well... nothing too important!
Also, I only had to open one single box every year to complete a set of commons - until last year, when the collation was awful. I opened a box + 20 random packs and still needed about 20 commons to complete the set. Let's hope we don't have the same issue again!

lol select would love to hear that.

rendering a player out in photoshop from a background takes the longest to do.

for a nice cut with no crooked edges can take up to 10 minutes each.

I agree totally I can see myself haffening to collect 2 Sets One Peeled and One Unpeeled. Yep here comes 3 Folders
thinking the same
hope select have done their homework on these, if the sticky stuff doesnt come completely off, might have some ugly looking cards in a couple of years time.

I'm with Nick on this. Call me old school, but I prefer the basecards to feature action photographs without any clearcutting or photoshop do-dackery. A nice name font, emblems and maybe a border or footer panel is all I need. It's one of the few things about Champions I've appreciated (though the 2010 cards were god-awful with the player edge-enhancement). Save the fancy photoshop work for the inserts. I do appreciate autographs look better on the more stylized cards.

I'm hoping Select is doing a switch and will bring them in for series II but wouldn't hold my breath. I remember Upper Deck doing some really clean, simple but great looking NFL cards in the mid 90s with game action images. Sometimes less is more.
