What would you do ???

As you would know tez...i got done before like this
The other guy clearly did a number on me but i always stated partial blame was mine for not doing my homework.

i going with what Adam says, this is the reason why im hesitate to go to trade days due to the fact i havent been in the hobby for many years and it has only been a few months back and i dont know too much! I just hope this doesnt happen to me! :P

I am lucky enough to have a top card shop at caloundra. Darren and his Dad have done many a great deal for me. At times a customer will have something i need, i have learn't to respect their knowledge and tell person to work out a deal with darren and then buy off shop. Saves any screwing, sure i may lose the superbargain, he's happy to offload, darren may get he's cut and i'm happy fot two reasons. Firstly i obviously get the card i have been after and secondly darren and graham have got me high end signature cards for bargain prices as customer wants to offload quickly. sometimes i suppose you can try to help but keeping all sides happy is hard. I like my card shop way. keeps the relationship happy allround. Support your local all. best of luck

Caveat emptor. (Let the buyer beware).

Morally, the seller did the wrong thing, but the buyer should have made sure he was not over paying first.

No winners in this that is for sure.

Everyone loses in some way, which is a shame as 2 of the three parties tried to do the right thing. I just have an issue with someone who walks out to a parking lot and hijacks the situation knowing the real price. I would think that Terry should ban him from the store and shame him so no one else gets vamboozled by this person.

Best of luck with this!

Deal Done, Lesson Learnt, Please Move On!!!

Don't expect all collectors to be BFF (best friends forever) !!!!

The dynamics of the this hobby can be weird, one moment you piss somebody off, the next moment you become the best of friends.

Tend to disagree Alex!
When it's honesty related, it's different!
If someone did that to me, I wouldn't deal with them anymore let alone become friends!

Oh, and the next time I saw him, he would be hoping it wasn't in a carpark ;)

I'd like to know exactly how T was ripped off? I mean there isn't a set price for the cards and you only gave an Opinion as to the value. Sure that guy way overvalued his cards(according to recent sales), but can people only sell to what Terry values them? If T was so worried about getting an opinion on the value why didn't he ask the guy to come into the shop to complete the deal?

Grow up mate and read the first post. If you know of any beasley cards that sell for anything like BV, I would love to see it.

If you would read the posts that I have made in this thread you'd see that I have said more then once that the cards were overvalued according to current prices did i not? All I'm saying is that guy had a price he wanted, the other guy paid. Both were a little silly in the way they did things but saying that he ripped the dude off and talking about beating people up over it is just crazy.

I've over paid for cards I wanted in my PC many times and I'm sure 99% of people on this forum has, I didn't claim the other person ripped me off and never will.

It's one thing to overpay for a card you want, I have done that before, but I knew what I wanted and being over the net, I was more cautious.

But it is another thing to originally overprice the cards (thinking that they were priced below BV, and obviously selling them on thy basis), then finding out that the BV was in fact much lower than first thought, and instead of being honest and disclosing that, he met him in the carpark so no one else would tell him!

And then squeezed another $10

Once he found out the proper BV, it then became a scam IMO, and I think that is worthy of a ban at the minimum!!

Like I said before, maybe you should try reading the thread instead of being argumentative just for the sake of it.

That is my point exactly but it appears that plenty of people think its okay.

No one thinks it's ok, I haven't read one person say that in here..... But they all think, and so do I, that the blame doesn't lie entirely with the seller, yes it was dishonest, but really, if your not up to date on what your spending your hard earned on then you have to take some responsibility, learn from it and move on......

This is what I don't understand, Terry you post in here ASKING for everyone's opinions, but he ones that don't fall in line with yours get canned and written off as argumentative....?

While the buyer can and should rightfully feel ripped of, he should also learn from it instead of becoming bitter and move on and enjoy the hobby for what it is. As unfortunate as it is, it happens in a lot of things through out life in general.....

The violence side of things is just silly, and usually comes from people that have dramas dealing with things in any other way!! Take that as you will, its not a personal dig just my opinion... So much talking gets done on the net... NSW card show as an example!!!

To each his own but I have seen a fair bit of funny things in this hobby.

If it was me, I would continue trading with him but the next time I deal with him, I make sure I have got a baseball bat next to me to ensure I have got a favourable deal to make it even.

Not sure if all the referring to violence is purely due to my comment of "seeing him in the carpark"???

But if it is, be sure to recognize that out of all the thing drob50 says on OCT, less than 2.8% of them are serious comments... And that carpark thing wasn't one of them!!

And Ian, I'm sorry but you are wrong!
Jaames, you too are wrong
Terry - wrong
All of you wrong!!!

THIS is being argumentative for the sale of it ;)

Adam your typing skills - WRONG

Same here with me, no violence encouraged.

My baseball bet is just for my baseball practice after the trade session, that's all.
