With ebay, you just can not win.

Yeah the whole thing is stupid, I just recently sold something for the first time in awhile and once the payment was made I got told my funds would be held for 21 days unless the buyer received the item before then. Well the buyer has since got the item and still Paypal wont release the $$ and telling me I have to wait a week until the 21 days is up as it's still a risk. I don't understand how its a risk when the damn buyer already has the item and has left me feedback.

Ebay could have at least let you take some dollars for postage so you can actually send the items.

I recently sold some cards but paypal didn't hold the payments which is quite good after hearing your stories.

Something makes me wonder though, my DSR is 4.8 across the board. I ship the cards straight away and leave feedback once I sent it. So why can't I get 5.0 for postage time. Is it my fault if the postal service doesn't deliver straightaway?

Also, I charge $2.50 for Australia. After I pay for the bubble envelope $1.00 and postage $1.20, ebay will then charge another 9percent off that $2.50 which is around 24 cents. And after Paypal take its cut, I actually will be paying part of the postage. Then I get 4.8 DSR. [-X

Thanks for reminding me of that.... So I really lose more for shipping. Its like the government, they could care less what petrol is selling for as they get more taxes, so why is ebay caring about your terms and conditions of shipping if people pay by paypal and they get a split of it?

I am looking at quicksales now and just focus on australia, has anyone had any good experiences with it? Seems rather slow with no promotion at all.

on another note. Yesterday I transferred $$$$ charity money to my charities bank from paypal.

I wonder if next time they will hold a substantial amount for 21 days. And I also wonder when it says can take up to 5 days to arrive in your account if that is the banks fault as they claim or paypal making some interest in that period.

I've always thought that. Considering the money is usually out of my account in 1-2 days when I add funds to my PayPal.

Whenever I transfer money out of Paypal 99% of the time I get it within 1 1/2 to 2 days.

Dont forget the echeque scam they pull. I used it recently and it was 4 days after the funds come from my bank account (and a narky email from me) that they finally paid the seller. Imagine what sort of money they make on little delays like that.

Hi Michael,

I have had a shop on quicksales since November so its only been a few months. It is growing all the time. Buyers need variety so the more sellers the better. If you need any help with quicksales I am more than happy to answer any questions you have, if I can answer them as I am only new there too.....lol

Cheers Glenn

Do a quick search on quicksales for bball stuff and you will see how far it has to go to become a rival or even competitor of ebay. I haven't used it in maybe a year and no progress has been made in basketballl stuff, it's still the same stuff that was selling back then.

I have opened a quicksales account. What is going to make this work is people on this board supporting it by letting others know and also buying off it. Its a great alternitive for someone like me with lots of base and lower end cards I am looking to move. I just dont want to list 100 cards and have 99 of them still up 6 months from now.

What I meant is what makes quicksales any different from other smaller websites like oZtion? The audience especially the buyers side is extremely small. Everybody wants to sell. There is no Special point of differentiation that attracts people to the site. I have attempted on other sites before, my inventory never moved unless it was a fabulous deal. Yes, I paid much lower fees but could not have decent sales at all. Yes, you are right in saying if you never try, you never know. I am just speaking from experience that to topple eBay would be a mammoth task but niche websites like here and comc have been establish where it serves market specific. I don't see how it can beat oct or comc in selling cards. Love to be proven wrong coz that means eBay would have less business.

Gorilla marketing is needed by us. Its going to be strong word of mouth and using our skills as seasoned traders to convince others that this is the best place for US. I cant see spending money listing cards that are marginal in value, IE, base... However with this, we can do that, we need to drive people to our sales though the board that I hope the admins will also help push. Revolutionize the online buy experience on a somewhat more neutral playing field.
