Guys

A mate and i are heading down from Qld for the GF. Looking for decent places to stay where we can easily and, preferably, quickly get to the game. I grew up in Sydney but I was only a kid so i have no idea! Any help would be appreciated!!

Just look for a quality Hotel in the CBD or if you're on a Budget stay at the Crown Hotel Elizabeth St near Central, your ticket provides public transport so it makes more sense to save a few $$$ and camp away from the ground.

So if we end up in the CBD, how long does it take to get a train out to the ground? I'm guessing it will be a nightmare after the game yeah?

Try around the North Ryde area too....took 30 mins by car on Friday to get out there (in peak hour) and they have a lot of public transport out to the game from there! Also close to the train into the city which takes about 20 minutes on the train.

Hi Nick.
I would stay in the city, somewhere near central. The trip to homebush isnt too bad on the trains. You have to change at Lidcombe station where trains leave every 10 minutes to Homebush. The whole trip takes around 30 minutes.
Much better pubs in town than Homebush for after the game.

Cheers Mark. I'm looking now but there are a million there. So near central is what I want. On it now

We stayed at the formula 1. It was cheap but they have food for breakfast and was pretty good. We caught a cab from central and was like $20.

No way $20 from central to homebush by Taxi, i will gaurantee if you catch a taxi from central to homebush on GF day it will be close to $100+

When I lived in parkes whenever we went to Sydney for the footy we stayed at the parramatta city motel. Pretty cheap and just up the road from the train station.

Parra is good but don't drive. Just train it from Parra to Lidcombe then to Olympic Park.
Alternatively I found a FREE bus when I went with a friend last night. We drove to Ermington shops on Victoria Rd then caught special event FREE bus to Olympic Park which took 10 mins MAX. I'd look at Formula 1 at Wentworthville then drive Cumberland Hwy to James Ruse Dr to Ermington. Then get the free bus #8 from Dural

We won't have a car (or be in any state to operate one for that matter). I've booked a hotel in the cbd but I can cancel with no charge til Tuesday. So I will be looking for something a bit closer tonight. Thanks for everyone's advice, it has helped a lot

Your train should be included in the ticket so don't buy train tickets if you don't have to (though double check your GF ticket as I don't want you to get fined).

So have re booked to a place in parra. Looks pretty cool. Google maps tells me it is a 38 min train trip to the ground. Better than the 1 hour 20 trip from the first place I booked! Thanks for the advice guys. Doggiiiiiiiiieees!!
