So as a player collector I endevour to get as many cards as possible fo Wesley Matthews. This includes parallels and 1/1s.

I know I am stating the obvious so far, but as a player collector I concede that I will never own every card that is released of that player.

So, if one of the rarer #/5 cards has rocketed up in value, should you sell it to cash in, or keep it for the sake of completeness that will never be realised?

So the poll question is for player collectors mainly, would you sell a PC card to make money on it while it is hot, or does the PC overrule?

I am interested to hear opinions.

nice question.

going for everything is just plain expensive.
even more so if you try and buy the 1/1s.

im going for everything thats not 1/1.
and i have 94% of james harden card.
i have spent ALOT of money on this.

so if you got the cash behind you, keep the lower numbered cards for the PC rather than selling them.
i'd hazard a guess that you got a green totally certified card??

its up to you, but 100% of non 1/1 card would be so sweet
plus it makes it better if your PC player takes off (like harden) and their value rises.

Personally I would keep it. You wanted it so much you got it why would you factor value into it. If you were to get rid of it make sure that if it were ever sold again you would have first dibs.

Totally certified green, correct! I have the base, and am watching the auto. I think the auto will go too high for me.

I would think that if I sold off one of my low numbered or nicer pc cards, that I would then feel like my PC has been 'tainted' and want to sell off more and more!

Snowball effect! Maybe you should just collect doubles of all of the cards then you will be laughing!

I'm with Adam, I'd have to keep it or else I'd feel my PC is tainted lol.

BUT! I wouldn't have a problem selling off a /5 to fund a 1/1 though.

I wouldn't do it with my current players PC but I started collecting Wilson Chandler and K.Durant in their rookie years, I kept all Chandler's cards because he was a quality player at the Knicks and I thought he would stay and become something big there but he left and I lost interest and money. I sold all my K.Durant rookie cards from Letterman auto's, patches, jerseys and the Finest refractor set after his rookie year thinking I would cash in to buy cards for my Ewing chase but I should have waited a few more years to really cash in.#-o

I know I'm never going to own 100% of Ewing's cards but the chase is what it's all about for me and I want to get as close as I can.

PC overrules for me.

this one?

2010-11 Totally Certified Emeriald Green Potential Auto Wesley Matthews 3/5 | eBay

i wouldnt expect it to go for more than $50.
the ones that are going gang busters atm are the base greens and base green autos..
then the rest are up, but no where near as much, the certified potential havent had a lot of rise..

exactly. the base are the ones that are rising because of a couple of buyers hunting at the moment and most sellers knowing this and shilling

the certified potential etc have no interest. and would only rise a little because of the misinformed thinking they can flip. having said that there is a chance the dudes with deep pockets could wake up one day and think these are the most beautiful cards they have ever seen!

I think that the PC is for a reason, so the #/5s etc should only grow in value if they genuinely are rare and sought after. The next question for you Jared, is Harden takes off, as he has, when do you sell? ever? all-star? hof?

Thats true mate, I like the certified potential, really nice looking cards.

I personally couldn't sell any of my Aminu PC items at the moment, but that may change in the future if I ever tire of the hobby or of the PC, but I doubt it. I feel i've worked hard to get the PC to were it is and would hate to take anything away from it right now. I have never looked at making money by flipping as I'm comfortable with what I spend to not need to recoup anything so selling a PC item doesn't serve any real purpose. At the moment I'm trying to clear out all my non-pc items to free space for more PC items :)

I have lots of cards I bought for my PC and I paid up to get them, so it is very unlikely many of mine will go for higher. So I paid up so I made sure I had it, so if I really still wanted my PC I would keep the card, even if it goes up I probably won't sell......that eing said, if someone is willing to pay and pay big, I would listen to the offer.

THe only other reason if I choose not to hold on to it is if I was going to let go my PC.

I have sold a couple of cards from my personal collection, usually when I need some cash for something else I want more in my collection

Pc is pc only untill your needs outweigh your haves !!!

I would keep whatever 1/1s and sell the other cards but things change if the price is right.... On a different example, had to sell my RX-7 ten years ago to raise deposit for our home....

In this case since I think the hype for the Totally Certified cards isnt going to last that long, I would probably sell now
Since its only a 2nd year insert and that money could be put towards a nice RC or something

certified is pure hype and won't last. pc is ok to move if it's only to improve your pc or if you have personal needs.

It depends...... if you're selling it purely because the prices are high, then no. PC is PC. But as others have said, if you want the cash to fund another PC purchase then go for it IMO.

Only time I would ever move any of my PC was if it was to help the PC or if I REALLY needed the money big time.

I've been faced with the same dilemma in that I have been offered interesting trade deals for my Kevin Love Totally Certified Black and Green.... after seeing the Beasley sell for nearly $400 I must admit the temptation is there so I can add some nice 1/1s to my Wolves PC... but I really can't bring myself to do so... I only need the gold base to complete the base rainbow so I'd rather complete that in some ways. If I didn't have a good job now whereby I can save for some nice cards, I'd probably have to chuck them on Ebay simply to be able to add some real beauties to the PC :)

That said I don't want to list on Ebay because I won't shill, I won't have anyone shill bid.... so safer to keep in my PC unless one of these guys finds me and makes me an offer they are happy with, that I also cannot refuse.
