Why not bid again to win it when you know the highest bidder amount? Or why even bid like that in the first place??

I think the problem there is that you have actively asked them to bid without them actually genuinely wanting to bid themselves of their own free will. It would appear then that you had a different agenda rather than a straight out fair auction. Hopefully the people that actively do this get f***ked around big time in their auction dealings.
