Pretty sure he must have just pocketed it from a trade day!

Makes me wonder if he pinched anything off me when I left him alone looking through my stuff!! I will never know? Who would have thought I would need to do a stocktake before I leave?

It has been terrible, I have had to tell people to keep an eye on their cards during trade days. Made me feel pretty bad tbh

Wow remember reading something about this at the time. Looks like its a lot closer to being resolved.

With the amount of trades and salesconducted online in this hobby particularly with overseas collectors trust is paramount and when you get a few bad eggs that like to ruin it for everyone else it really is a shame. I have in the past and I'm also currently helping out some members with getting cards from USA only auctions and to be honest its an honor that they trust me to act as an intermediary in getting these cards to them.

It's also a hobby to make great friendships with both casual collectors, hardcore collectors and industry professionals alike and at the absolute core of all those friendships is trust.

Disgusting behavior... why people do this is so cruel..

I had a tony Lockett signature card from 1996 stolen by a "friend" of mine when i stayed at his place one night, could never prove it though.. still haunts me to this day..

hope he gets the justice he deserves

So basically this guy stole the card at one of your trade days and then tries to come back in the shop to sell it. Obviously a master criminal.

Well done catching him out Terry.

Have I missed something in between!!!! Did he fessed up that he took the card?????

Doesn't sound like it, but you would think that if he did just "come across it" then he would want to contact the original owner and say, this person has your stolen card etc etc. Rather than, hey I found your card, wanna buy it back from me.

I shouldn't have any opinion I suppose without knowing the ins and outs.

He brought it into Terry's shop on the 28th of Feb.

Police Offences Act 1935 – SECT 39
39. Possession of stolen property
(1) A person must not have possession or control of any property that is reasonably believed by a police officer to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

So I just re-read the original post, he's trying to trade/sell it rather than offer it back to the original owner, knowing full well it was stolen and who from?

That's pretty rough.

This is what the law says. Does not really matter if you stole it or not - its still against the law to have stolen goods.

the facts are simple. he stole the card and pretty much within the next day posted this
http://www.ozcardtrader.com.au/community/threads/garnett-and-bogut-logomen.104508/#post-950288

he shopped it to a member on here who has a bogut logoman. i messaged the member who i believed owned the bogut to verify, and i believe a couple of the mods tried to do the same. we did not get a reply from the member, which I think a pretty disrespectful act in itself

Bainy and myself also messaged this person, and we did get a response, if its the same person your speaking of, I let Clint know what that outcome was and I think I also told you Crack! Not sure, however you are correct in the assumption of card in hand=thread, or its mighty good timing.

This is one of the worst things to happen....it's amazing how one person can ruin something for a lot of people. Just imagine a new member the member reads this, he could get turned off by the hobby.....just a terrible thing to happen

It also shows that there is a huge community of other collectors out there that is watching out for dodgy people to protect the honest one's and there are much more Good people out there than bad

Just have to say this is the worst thing that happens in the hobby, there is no worse feeling than realising your card/cards have been stolen. This happened to me years ago at high school, my binder stolen out of my school bag and whole PC gone! You have suspicions of who probably stole them but can't prove it and therefore your collection/card is lost forever. Being a true hobbyist you never forget it either. This is why all the good cards are not being posted internationally on ebay from the states! We need to protect our reputation, hobby and each others cards so this HAS to be treated with zero tolerance at all times!!!

Great work Terry :) hope this has a happy ending! I also know what it feels like to have things stolen last thing I can remember being stolen was a box of 08/09 Upper Deck First Edition it was about 2 years ago I did the right thing and was a designated driver for a couple of mates when I got to the party they had a couple of mates with them aswell that wanted to get a ride I thought i'd do the right thing and give them a ride. wasn't till after I dropped them 2 people I didn't know off that the box was missing... Will never do that again and I guess it was a bit of my fault but still! :(..... Hope all works out with this card looks like a nice one :) Great people on this site also ;)

Oh, I am very surprised it was Shannon all this long and there was a bit of a hush hush about it though... Its sad it had to come to this.
I didn't have a slightest thought it was him, I've met that fellow once in a trade day too.
