If you are a club member they usually have team days where you can meet the players. After games you can try but its a lot harder than it used to be or you can try going to the teams training but not guaranteed for success there.

Teams sometimes do signing sessions at major supermarkets etc or some do player appearances etc.

Just keep an eye out for your teams social media and see if they have any of these things scheduled.

Team trainings are good, or look for sponsor appearances (Telstra store, rebel sport etc).

I prepare my cards for signing with either a light rub of a pencil eraser or a baby powder. They help the sharpie to stick to high gloss surfaces.

Make sure you have your own sharpies and that you’ve tested them before hand.

I used to put the cards in a booklet held by photo corners. That negates the risk of smudging wet sharpie or finger prints.

Sounds obvious, but know your players and use manners. I’ve seen some people ask a player who they are and then flick through their cards trying to find one. Kids always go first. Usually you can get 3-4 “regular players” in the time you want for superstars.

Slightly off topic, but i vaguely recall from my earlier stint here that there was a guy everyone referred to as “sig pig” who would harass players to sign stacks of cards and hed flip them on eBay, is that guy still around?

“Mick Ennis” I use to see him at all the Panthers and Eels home games.

I moved out of Sydney years ago. No idea if he’s still around.

Definitely made it bloody hard on collectors.
