Time to boycott Select...

wow what a response. And most people agree which I am pleased to hear although not surprised. You know captain America I might just sit down on the weekend and write them a letter. The card cost me $150 and to get them back with any damage is really unacceptable as mentioned these guys are supposed to be the benchmark. And there quality packing resembles an ebay seller. If they where on this site they would have been neg'd and banned by now...

Do they allow pick up for cards?, i have been to their office to pick up an acrylic stand they had for the NRL statues a few years ago, wonder if you walked in and gave them the redemption cards if they would do it on the spot...

I think we should start a petion to send to Select with our problems as a group. It is easy to ignore a couple of emails or phone call complaints, but hopefully if they get a response from a large group from the hobbys leading website, they might actually pay attention and (not holding my breathe) change their ways.

Eventually they will get the point, i think it is pathetic that they didn't release something for kids to collect for cricket this year. My nephew was quite upset.

All I want is al the Phillip Hughes cards, to get this years Phillip hughes card(s) I need to find $300, I am just 15 and thats is a lot of cash!

ok, i am seeing where this is coming from now. I won't boycott them but i agree u guys have been treated unfairly considering your dedication to collecting their product.

All I can say is. If you had paid $150 for a redemption and sent it in and thats how it come back you would feel the same. Glad that the majority of people saw it the same way...

When we received our premiership redemption set the Norm Smith medal card had black diagonal lines across the logo and the imprint of the numbering on the back of the card was readable from the front so they were sent back with a very nasty letter, Select said it will be a while as they will have to reprint with the same numbering

need bewick to bring back quarters.
also need to support/promote teamcoach more, they are the best chance since they are a licence holder of some sort already.

I loved it when teamcoach started having an impact on select's market and forced select to lower their packs to $2.95
it must of really sh1t them, but unfortunately collectors got the ass end of it with low quality champions series from 2006.

i'm thinking now they should can series 2 altogether, and bring the kids into the higher end of the market.

'cos kids that want to collect are stuck with crappy series 1 stuff, most don't have access or even know about series 2.
except when they see rookie sigs and redemption cards, they must think, hey what happened there?
I bought heaps of packs and didn't get a sig' or a predictor ect, wasn't even stated in the odds on the pack, best card i got was an ugly closeup picture of a pimple headed rookie.

why not just go back to one series and put everything in it?
call it select super supreme even.
bring back the serious chase, the likelyhood of a kid buying a pack in the newsagent and pulling a 1:4000 pack pull.
make it a real set of cards with every listed player, is it 42 per team?
team collecting is becoming more and more the way collectors are heading 'cos it's hard to collect everything for most.
so make it worthwhile with 42 card team sets, plus logo and coach card, many non card heads i know that i've given a team set to ask the same thing, how come there's only 12 cards? what about the other players?

and there's no excuse for nrl cards, teamcoach don't do an nrl series, select have no competition so why reduce the quality and price? they should of stayed $3.95 and good quality, and now with no series 2 nrl it's all they get, it's like ripping your guts out.

to not bring out cricket this year and just the boxed set will have a big ripple effect in cricket cards in the near future, look at any other aust' sport cards, once there's a break in production the interest in previous releases drops heaps.

A-League soccer cards didn't come out either, in a year when there's a new team in melb' heart, that stuffs that up too,
select don't deserve to hold any licence at all.

>> call it select super supreme even.

But will it have anchovies on it? Eugh.
Things like the Watson Father-Son card show there are plenty of people with great ideas out there, unfortunately AFL licenses are expensive, and much like the Australian Cricket Team, it seems to be a mates club with whom they pick and chose as players in the market.

I know its pathetic by select not to protect your cards, but if you want your cards protected send a couple of empty top loaders with the card you redeem and then they will be put in them by there staff.

I have done that numerous times, they just keep your top loaders and still send them with no protection

Did u read my posts??? I set enough for every card and none where returned protected...

I already said I see where u might be p issed off, too many voices to ignore it.
maybe a hand written letter send from person to person here then onto select so they know what impact they are having on collectors might change something?

Ohhh dear methinks you did not read onwards from the OP :p

Unfotunately Select own the Australian market so we have to accept what their standards are.

Personally, if i had the money, i would love to be either a competitor or own them, but i dont have that sort of cash or contacts.

Yes they should listen to collectors such as from here but they will never show respect because they are the only market available!

No, we dont have to accept their crap! We choose to! At the end of the day everyone has a choice! Yes its the only card company that produced AFL and NRL but we can simply not collect them if its that big of an issue, which it is for me! I havent touched Select, other then their Crickt stuff last year for 2 years and I only went the Crickt set because it s the first one Ive collected since Futera Days! I personaly wont be buying anything from them in the near future unless things drastically change!!!

Strength in numbers, but Im afraid to many people will just play Sheep to the Shepard that is Select!

I've never redeemed anything from Select but the posts in this thread make me not want to bother.

I've had a few things sent to me from them, replacement commons and stuff. They came MINT but trust me it could've been worse considering the crap packaging they sent it in.
