The road to season 2015

Day 9 (~177 days to go)

Bit of activity today. Frawley became a Hawk and, in a somewhat more surprising move, Malceski became a Sun. Huge boost for Gold Coast! Many father-sons were also locked in today, including Cordy, Moore, Stretch and Waterman. I can't help but wonder if there will be any other surprise trades no-one saw coming!

I think there will be a few "interesting" trades in the coming days.
Still a few trades that need to be made and there is always a few that no one expects

Dangerfield can't see him leaving adelaide, although melbourne have made him a massive offer but adelaide not willing to trade so I think they may try and extend his contract now or risk losing him to free agency next year, so it's interesting if adelaide feel he might walk next year is it worth trading him now as they would get more now on the trade table or wait and back themselves in to keep him, I think they will back themselves to keep him.
The problem Adelaide have is all of dangerfield, sloane and walker all out of contract end of next year can't possibly offer them all massive deals

Kochie stealing the Crows thunder
What a knob.
All well they talked up Walsh like he was god hopefully he's a good senior coach and kicks some of these crows players up the arse.

We were way to lazy last year.
Hopefully he brings the fitness techniques used at Port Adelaide to the Crows.

I think North Melbourne will regret letting Levi Greenwood go to Collingwood, if that is what eventuates. As Gary Lyon said, you can't on one hand throw money at Waite and Higgins and on the other hand not have enough to pay someone like Greenwood, who had a terrific finals series. North Melbourne must think it's the 1970's all over again!!

Day 10 (~176 days to go)

Today, as expected, Phil Walsh was officially appointed as Adelaide's new coach. Bit of a risk, I suppose, bringing in someone with little head coaching experience, but maybe he can teach the Crows some tricks from the Power. Sydney fans felt hard done by after receiving a second round compensation pick for Nick Malceski, as opposed to the first rounder Melbourne got for Frawley. Levi Greenwood has asked to go to Collingwood, and O'Rouke to Hawthorn: not sure why you'd want to go there, as there is huge competition for spots! And finally, as mentioned above there was a logo change, with the Bulldogs ditching the 'Robo-dog' and brining in a logo with a nice blend of new and old.

Interesting developments at the trade table - The Age is reporting that Carlton and the Western Bulldogs have held talks over the possible trade of Adam Cooney, Liam Jones and pick 45 in exchange for Carlton's pick 28. This would leave the Dogs with picks 6, 26, 27 and 28 for the draft.

The Herald Sun is reporting that Jeff Garlett has requested a trade from Carlton to Melbourne, after meeting with Paul Roos.

Allen Christensen (to one of the Brisbane clubs) and Travis Varcoe (weighing up offers from West Coast, Collingwood and North Melbourne) could possibly leave Geelong.

It's all happening....I'm bloody confused!

Jon Anderson in the Herald Sun has picked his "Team of the last 25 years", covering the start of the AFL era to the present day.

B: Gavin Wanganeen, Steven Silvagni, Matthew Scarlett
HB: Luke Hodge (c), Glen Jakovich, Andrew McLeod
C: Peter Matera, Michael Voss, Nathan Buckley
HF: Gary Ablett Snr, Wayne Carey, Lance Franklin
F: Brent Harvey, Tony Lockett, Jason Dunstall
Foll: Dean Cox, Chris Judd, Gary Ablett Jnr
I/change: Nick Riewoldt, Robert Harvey, Adam Goodes, James Hird
Coach: Leigh Matthews

Unlucky omissions for me are Mark Ricciuto, Simon Black and Dustin Fletcher, although exactly who they would replace I'm buggered if I know! :-)

Day 11 (~175 days to go)

Another interesting day at the trade table. Allen Christensen and Levi Greenwood both requested trades. It is possible that Higgins and Waite have squeezed out Greenwood, while Christensen is leaving due to "personal issues". There has been some controversy regarding the potential Ryder trade, with the possibility that Ryder could leave as a free agency, then the Bombers get compensated with a high draft pick. The International Rules series squad was also selected yesterday; it could be a good game at Paterson's Stadium, given the quality of the players in the squad.
