The OFFICIAL Mavs/Spurs series thread!!!

Some much empahasis on Dirk's scoring, how about all the analyists wake up and realise that the Mavs have a deep and quality team!

This is the best West team to tackle the spurs in the playoffs in the last decade, apart from shaq/kobe Lakers teams

How can you beat the top seed in a 7 game series??

Easy don't let the prikks outta your house in Game 6 when you lead the series 3-2!!

MAVS in 6 in my prediction BTW

its not often the spurs take a beating like that at home, now the series is getting interesting! still going with spurs in 7 though.

Sif. Mavs in 6 is a lock. ;)

The Mavs and the Nets are gonna meet in the finals and Scotty and I are gonna have a round of drinks @ their farm.

I said it before and I'm gonna back it up! Mavericks in 6! They lost game 1 by fluke, they can take this!! Sure they don't have Finley or Nash, but they have more offense from Jason Terry and Josh Howard is the best thing that has has happened to the Mavs in the last season! (Apart from Dirk's evolution!!).. They have their MVP in Dirk, they're secondary scorer and point guard in Jason Terry and also a suitable PG backup in Devin Harris. They have a part-time enforcer in Dampier and bench scorers in Daniels, Van Horn and Stackhouse. And then, the greaseman who does the dirty work. Defensive lock and offensive powerhouse JOSH HOWARD!!

in case you didn't know.. van horn isn't playing and won't play these playoffs...

your under estimating duncan/horry/parker/manu.. they'll bounce back.. but we'll see..

They made it look easy today. Howard played great and what about Devin? Avery is the man, proved again why he's Coach of the Year.
I'd love to see the Mavs advance but I don't think the Spurs will let 'em..

ahh guys....just a note....steve javie was the ref

been a spurs fan as long as I have, you realise that usually = a loss (sorry, a blow out)

whenever the spurs get blown, I check the refs...and its Javie...always!

no, I dont blame refs...

but its a bit strange, the amount of FT's by both teams was very similar to game 1 in 2003 the spurs lost, when Nellie went hack-a-bowen yet the mavs still shot more FT's. Pretty sure you'll find steve javie, or bennet salvatore, or luis grillo as the refs...one of these three men are involved in every spurs spanking over the past say 10 years

javie hates the spurs + van exel.. simple fact.. but it wasnt one ref.. mavs wanted it more, spurs expected a walk over because thats what the mavs usually are.. spurs will bounce back

Mavs will take this series!!

They haven't come out of nowhere, they have toughened up slowly and built around Dirk excellently, championship teams often come through years of contending.. Mavs will take it if they play the game they have played this regular season

Josh Howard is the key, agressive player, never backs down

The Spur who isn't ready to give up the west title is Parker, look for him to lift on the road!

I read an interesting stat last night.... the Mavs are 20-0 this year, when Josh Howard scores 20+.

Game 1 was a huge disappointment. They could have gone to OT, but Stack f-cked it up. Simple. Avery said it, just not like that.

Game 2 was amazing. 2nd Quarter was the difference maker. I think Timmy D sat off half of that 1/4 too? Which obviously hurt the Spurs.

Spurs will be tough in Dallas, but I think the Mavs will be 2-1 after Game 3.

Devin Harris has been a HUGE impact on Tony Parker's game. Look for Devin to stay in the lineup for this series.

Oh and Van Horn is on the Playoff Roster. He wasnt fit enuff to play Mephis Series, they expect him back in 2-3 games (IF NEEDED). Going by the way they're playing at the moment, looks like he might f-ck up their rotation....

its amazing to think they could lose nash, finley and jamison, and somehow get better

They also lost 'Toine. They didn't really need Jamison. I mean, he provided a great scoring and rebounding ability but altogether he was a poor mans Dirk Nowitzki. A better rebounder and defender than Dirk but not as tall and not as good a shooter (although Jamison has been great this season).

Nash could be replaced by Terry as Terry is more offensive-minded and it's changed the way things are run..

Finley was on the decline, he used to be a 22 ppg, 6 rpg, 5 apg guy but once Dirk emerged Finely was no longer #1 on the team.
