check out Phil at the podium in the press conference, too big to sit at the table?
NAh he never sits he always stands, coz of the hip replacements and the bad back....
As for the Calls it was clearly off Garnett, im buying into the conspiracy theories that Mr Stern wants a 7GM series to milk it for all its worth.....
Another at the end was Rons 6TH foul on Rondo he clearly tapped the ball ahead a few in the 1st half that should have gone the C'S way also..
“Our big guys played great,†Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “We didn’t get the ball often enough to them, or in a good enough position many times, and a lot of our outside shooting was not that (good). … In a sequence like this, there’s no doubt it’s a blow to us to lose the homecourt, but we anticipated this might happen, and we’re just going to have to go pick it up.â€
Really Phil?? You thought you might drop game 2?? Wow...
Not to worry, Boston's offence will cool a little i would expect and ours will increase. Will the C's bring the A defence game? Also Boston havent been that good at home this season have they? LA has finished all their series on the road so i expect us to steal atleast 1 if not 2 in beantown.
I think we will be fine going to Boston....Bynum played well today as did Gasol they just need to keep up their work rate.....I highly doubt Jesus Shuttlesworth will drain 8 3'S again.....We had a 4PT lead in the 4TH and it ended with a Boston 16-4 run that aint gonna win you to many games either, Garnett and Paula only shot a combined 4-16 or something like that so Gay Allen pretty muched saved there asses from a 2-0 hole....This is going to be a very good series 2 of the best 2 teams from the last 3-4 years....
That's probably not what he meant. He probably meant he and the team anticipated the Celtics would come back strong and that they would definitely have their work cut out to take a 2-0 lead on the series.
They would have been stupid not to think it was a strong possibility.
Read the quote again Jimbo.
Saying that it was a strong possibility that the C's would come out strong is very, very different to saying that dropping the game was "anticipated".
So u got
Gay Allen
Paula - any other nicknames??
I'll share a few if u will
KoMe (self explanatory especially after today's 4th quarter heroics where Gasol had 1 3 pt shot attempt the whole 4th...)
Gasoft (although he's shaking that one!!!! haha!)
Odumb (not being shaken at all....)
Agreed about the series. I picked C's in 6 at the start of the series - funny thing is - after today I reckon it's going 7.
Hate blaming losses on single bad calls but that out of bounds play that came off Garnetts hand, called on Pau, called off Garnett by all three announcers, clearly off KG in the replays, reviewed by the refs to not be turned over???

All of a sudden we're coming back down the court with a minute 30 odd, not looking to tie the game, but looking to force some plays cause we're down 5. The thing that hurts the most is it's not so much that the C's played great, but we played poorly and that first half hurt us us much as we got back in it at the end there and narrowed the margin.
Ray Allen and Rondo had great games but seriously...
Either way, off to Boston tied with 3 games in the garden, a must win in game 3, that's all I have to say.
Hmm well either way I don't think it's a biggie.
It's not like he would've gone around saying "hey guys we're not going to win the game."
More like he and team were prepared for the fact that there was definitely a chance they would drop the game (as there always is, isn't there?).
You're missing the point again Jimbo. Of course there was always a chance they'd drop G2, but going in thinking there is a chance and "anticipating" a loss are worlds apart. Anticipating something indicates you are thinking it is a probability and also assumes a level of planning for that event...why would you shift focus from trying to win G2 and maintain HCA. Perhaps he just slipped and said the wrong word, but it indicates a negative position for the coaches to approach such an important game.
No I didn't miss the point. I know exactly what you're saying. And I'm saying - I think you are reading into it too much.
At the time of the interview I doubt Phil thought long and hard about exactly which word would best answer the question he was being asked. Like you said, maybe he used the wrong word.
You are reading too much into the implications of one word, which he may or may not have intended. That's all I'm saying.
Aslong as they Win at least 1 Game they are coming back...
the lakers lost game 2 due to one fact...poor officating and some terrible calls on kobe to get him in foul trouble!
