The Official BOSTON CELTICS thread

Actually Rondo shot 50.5 % from the field for the entire season. He has constantly hit the jumper this year and added the three to his game. All year its been there Axe but I guess more people get to see it now the playoffs are here. Rondo is more than a few steps up on the PG that led us to a title last year.

Rondo for this series is already averaging a triple double!

GREAT play by Starbury! A three, a steal and assist on another three! 6pt play to Starbury!

Nearly a 20pt lead going into the half! Hussle, defense, taking the bulls out of their comfort zone and they are forcing it. Just like i said if the Bulls start playing catch up this will bloon out!

Great to see Scal back out there.

WOW first the crowd goes quiet and now they are booing their home town Bulls!

Big Baby's hussle is great to watch. It all starts on the defensive end and thats creating the offensive game with the bulls failing to get set in their defensive.

Up22pt at the half this one is an away win and home court back no matter how much the Bulls work back the deficit. NBA history would have to be broken to get this game back and they just look lost compared to us today.

Ok. I thought one of the knocks on Rondo was his shooting range/outside shooting. Evidently not, or he's improved it since his rookie season. I'mpressive shooting! Speaking of impressive shooting, are Gordon and Rose shooting impressively BAD, or are they being locked down by good defence? They both seem to have come down to earth, and on their home-court too...

Gordon has had to work for his shot and the defense has dictated where gets a look. He has started to force it as he is obviously frustrated. Rose is pushing the ball and the help out D is really contesting any shot he has. The bulls have really not got not many open looks today, especially compared to all the open looks we are getting. So neither is missing open J's and they have to take them as they can't get any interior scoring going.

And yes Rondo has improved since two years ago.

Rondo's shot has definately improved but I still wouldn't call upon him as a jump-shooter.

If he's wide open on a kick out then yes, he'll knock it down or maybe going off a screen when the defensive switch is late. But I don't think we're talking about any 1-on-1 step-backs or any of that sort.

Obviously it's gotta be his selection helping his percentages too, he only averages 11 points and attempts 9.5 shots per game. So say for instance that on average per game 3 or 4 out of those 9.5 are layups or off penetration he's really only shooting 5-6 jump-shots per game.

Say 2 of them are off kick-outs from a double which he can knock down easily and you can see why his % is so high.

As for the 3 I think he can step up and hit it when needed but I wouldn't be holding my breath about that seeing as he only made 15 this season.

Yup you are right. He only goes to the basket gets banged, makes his shots and on a whole shoots over 50% from the field. I wouldn't trust him either LOL

Its much harder to be a player on a team with PP, Ray Allen and KG than say the focal point like Deron Williams, Rose, CP3 etc etc.

Rondo's outside shot is often under shot clock pressure and he knocks them down. Only those that have failed to watch him all year have doubts about his ability to knock them down when his number is called.

Rondo's numbers would be right up there with the top PG's of the NBA if he was more a focal point. He has shown that much already.

i listened to the game on bulls radio over the web... geez the bulls were woeful today, being absolutely blown out like that on your home floor is down right embarassing, and it seemed like they had no desire to work hard, its no wonder the fans were booing their own team... sounds like the celts shut em down defensively and the bulls kept relying on their outside shot which simply wasnt falling today... they dont really have any sort of inside presence they can go to regularly when the outside shot isnt falling... seriously need to address this in the off season, whether they advance or not

good job by the c's today to make them keep shooting jumpers... if chicago loses next game at home theyre stuffed

Didn't see the game, I'm assuming the Bulls went back home and failed to play with the hunger and determination they had in the first two games. Home court doesn't gaurantee the win and Boston will catch you slipping...[-X

16 Steals and 10 Blocks for Boston and 22 turnovers from the Bulls, plus a pretty poor shooting effort going by the stats. Looks like the difference from a quick glance.

well you can't argue with my breakdown.

9 shots per game.

3-4 layups, 2-3 shots out of kick-outs. leaving really only 2-3 other FGA max.
we'll see when he gets a consistent increased role on offense how good of a jump-shooter he is.

Well for a guy that gets 9 shots a game what do you want? 50%FG.

Its not like he is a player where the 48 mins stat makes him look like a star. When needed Rondo IS a star and plays unselfish when he has to. Thats the best part of the young guy, he transforms to what is needed game by game and obviously this series its to take it to Rose and he has done so and been the series best player so far.

Haha no you misunderstand me Chad.

I'm not saying he should shoot higher than 50%, in fact there is nothing wrong with his %'s in my books at all.

I'm just saying that of course his % will look great when he has such selective shot attempts and low FGA's overall. I'm simply saying when he enters a role where he is consistently shooting 5-10 jump-shots a game, some contested, some uncontested, on the move, off the move then we will see if he really is a good jump-shooter.

Well 46-45 at the half in game 4..Rondo being Rondo, Pierce starting to waken up although he's getting MUGGED! Scal playing some great minutes, good fouls, screens - can see why they play him and trust him. Perk being Perk....Although the lead is 1 I'm, liking the look of this....

Another awesome game, man, a tripple double from Rondo, Rose fell one assist short of one also! Series tied at 2 a piece! I honestly didn't think I'd see it at 2-2!

Yeah those stats from the 2 point guards is incredible. Imagine if they both had a triple-double, would that be a record, first time both starting point guards had one? haha.

Great series this is shaping out to be!

And to think Rondo is doing it all on one ankle! With the other being injured! He is truly underated and deserves more accolades than he is getting! Not taking anything away from Rose mind you! He is playing with an old head on a young body!

Yeah Rose and Rondo are playing on similar levels probably minus one game where Rose was held in check.

By the way Chad - did you see Rondo's jumper to win the game at the end of OT1? Step-back, plenty of room, no hand in his face... BRICK. Wasn't even on target. But he knocks it down when he needs to right?
