The Official BOSTON CELTICS thread

When you see the - :worthy: - icons come out in force and some of them look like this; :wo rthy: .... you know Chad's excited.

LOL some Magic fan would of taken a shot at me by now if i was there LOL

I'd say that was a million dollar shot but with his upcoming FA Big Baby probably just bought himself a FEW more millions.

He can shoot, seen him hit threes, rebound, pass, fly through the paint, the Kid is a ready made replacement for when KG calls it quits. Hope the c's can keep him round!

I especially loved the way Big Baby palmed the kid out of the way after the shot! LOL

What a clutch shot! Great game!

Cheers
Matt

Its a no brainer now especially seeing Powe went down and we didn't have to choose between them. Powe will sign for less and that sucks for him and TA will be gone off the books at the end of the year too. He stays for sure. 100%.

TA needs to be gone asap and room made for someone who wants to play!

Just watched the press conference live on nba.com. SVG said his team defended the last play exactly how he wanted, stopping all the shooters and leaving BBD open - and he's saying it was his fault!!! Guess he manned up there.
Doc said BBD was option 3 after Ray and PP and they were supposed to get a quick shot and foul if needed!!!!! He was pumped!

Also props to BBD with 5 boards in the 4th when Perk was hurt - way to show up big fella!!!! I was a Powe fan for most of this season, I felt his postup game and superior rebounding were more important to the C's than BBD's jumpers. Now funnily enough I'm not so sure!!!! If u can have him on the court hitting big shots as well as Ray and pierce and KG if healthy then you're a tough stop

Trouble is KG plays that 15ft radius too and will take away that shot from BBD or take his defender out there too. If KG can stay down in the block more then BBD will have wide open looks.

How about Rondo taking his jump shot today and with pressure too and knocking them down. They gave him the shot early and he made it, then they got up on him and he made it too. A lot of our guys are improving and bringing things to their game that wasn't there a year ago even though we won it all. Perk was a beast today and had a stack of blocked shots too. Fingers crossed his dodgey shoulder is ok.

Rondo nearly matched Dwights stats with pts and boards!

Great game and a big shot from Big Baby! He's a modern-day Terry Mills (big guy, great shooter, ample girth). I just read this morning that he's a restricted free agent (Celts can match any offer he receives). Does anyone know if the Celts will pay luxury tax this year or next and will that have any effect on their ability to re-sign him? From what he's shown since KG has been out, he'd have to be looking at a multi-year deal starting somewhere around about 4-6 mil. per year, wouldn't he?

Can't believe teams continue to give Rondo open looks thinking that he won't make it. He has defintely improved with his jump shot and takes them now whenever left open.

That's why I was keener on Powe than BBD but we definitely need to sign them both and cut Allen - a total distraction now.....

It's pick yr poison with him though. Would u rather give him the J or come up and watch him blow by u. If he's hitting his shots then you're in trouble....

We have all the big three signed till 2009-10 and will be over the cap till then. So yeah luxury tax but the current owners despite wanting to limit the money paid out arent prepared to 'save' money on the luxury tax and 'lose' out on earnings from playoff success.

We dump Tony Allens contract at the end of the year.

Brian Scalabrine, who earns $3.4 million in the last year of his contract in 2009-10, will count as a free agent against the Cs salary cap in 2010 for a whopping $6.8 million.

The REAL test is this summer. We can sign Rondo on for an extension starting from 2011 or let his contract go to the end of its four years and have him as a restricted FA. IF Rondo continues on his path of triple doubles and big time play waiting could cost us more. It will be a test if Rondo wants to be the Celtics leader in the same vein of CP3 in years to come or if he wants to test the market.

Pierce I would expect takes a huge pay cut to remain a Celt for life and gain the extra years and money to help him to possibly more success. Ray could play on a few more years and who knows if the Celts will be his last stop.

Costly time ahead for the c's, lets hope they can keep their main core together, especially Rondo.

Well thats the trouble. Whilst we retain our superstars the likes of Rondo and Perk have improved so much they too demand better deals and then the second tier of Baby and Powe would be welcome on any team as well.

When you pick up one guy for cash and two in the second round for the most part the league rule is you wouldn't expect as much improvement as we've seen and I doubt the Celts expected we would have to spend as much in the future years. But no one is complaining as Rondo will be key to our future and so too Perk if his shoulder hangs on.

Perk said this morning on HoopsHype - The NBA Basketball Web Site that his shoulder is fine, didn't pop out and all it will need is some rest during the off season.

On the same same there are also reposrts that BBD could possibly be in trouble for pushing that kid outta the way. His father write to the NBA lodging an official complaint. Leage rules indicate that players are not alllowd to cross the boundry line, with Glen did.

Perks shoulder is a worry long term. His history of chronic shoulder problems is the worry.

And I've posted that in another thread for discussion and there is NOTHING in it. If it was Aaron Brooks no one would be worrying but it was BIG baby and therefore people think it resembled Pampalona.
