The Liverpool Thread

One thing I think is for certain, Carroll could only become a better player working with Dalglish.

I agree that Torres will not get any better in the EPL but i also wouldn't mind a 20-30 goal striker every year. However he wanted out and there is no point in hanging onto him in that case, thus you have to take the view we were going to lose him anyway. In picking up two quality strikers for the same money we got for torres roughly we have done well. Yes we overpaid for Carroll but I suppose that is the risk you have to take sometimes at the chance of getting a superstar. Suarez is pure class and a better finisher than Torres IMO.
You also can look at it as we now have two targets up front with a 3rd on the bench (Ngog) whereas we only really had one with Torres in the side. Plus a fit Gerrard playing as an attacking midfielder and Mireles getting better every game we have the foundations for what could be a very good team. I do think we need another creative midfielder, a Left back and maybe another tall strong centre back. Another positive note is these new owners have now proved they are willing to take a punt and splash the cash around. I think you will find we will get the final puzzle pieces together in the off season and be top 4 again next season. For now i think we will finish 6th.

PS Everyone forgets about Joe Cole. Get him right and you have another world class midfielder.

^I'd love to see a fit Cole playing at his best. On his day he is pure class. Biggest mistake I think Liverpool have made is letting Babel go.

Suarez named in tonights squad to play Stoke.

Whats the difference between Liverpool paying that much for Carroll and United paying what they did for Rooney? I mean Rooney had only scored 15 goals in 67 league games for Everton, Its way to early to say it was a bad buy.

rooney had already played for england by that time. was 5 years younger. he was an obvious talent. youngest player in the epl. all that baloney.
hed only scored so few goals because he got such little playing time. moyes was using him very conservatively. you gotta admit carroll hasnt shown hes the player rooney was?
i will agree that he could very well turn out to be a great buy, he certainly has the potential, but at this point i think it was a bad one. is that allowed? a bad buy until he proves himself?
that aside, i was more interested in liverpools tactics on how much they thought torres was worth. they had no price tag. if the geordies wouldve said 'have carroll for 10mill' chelsea couldve got torres for half the price they paid.
