Hey Adam i know you're a father of three little girls so this story will interested you :

I was around 16 years old and my school was far from my parents home so i was sleeping at the boarding school ( the girls and boys was separate ) but one day a nice lovely guy invite me to go in his room during the night but of course it wasn't allowed ( and like always when it's not allowed it's more funny ) so just after the evening call i leave discreetly the dormitory of the girls to join that of the boys but to be sure i could come back in my room just before the morning call i have put a scotch tape in the lock of the door to be sure that's it will doesn't close and that's i could join my room so discreetly as I had it leaving.

I have join the room of this boy and we had fun well but the time past and i must return to my room and when i'm in front of the door i've see that's the tape was gone and the door cosed very closed ...... big problem for me......

I try to call some friends behind the door but everybody slept....

so i knock at the door with wish that's will be one of my friend who will open but that's was not the case it was the guard of the dormitory.... aie aie aie !!!!!

The next day I was summoned by the director and I took a warning ( i have tell him that's i was gone of my room during the night for calling my sister  ).

Morality : do never use scoth tape to stick a door :D and let never your daughters going to the boarding school:kick:

Matty, apparently it's not exactly a common thing to get the ball to turn on an indoor pitch. With my bowling method (left-arm, unorthodox finger/wrist spin), the spin just occurs naturally. Plus I can make the ball turn in virtually any direction except backwards.

As someone who has played copious amounts of indoor cricket in the last 5 years, including A grade state league in Perth, I can assure you that there are plenty of people who can spin/turn the ball on an indoor pitch. Sorry to burst your bubble ;)

Little known fact? Um, on the down side I suffer from gout and just found out about glaucoma....thanks for the genes Dad!

On the positive side I've travelled to over 30 countries (done some crazy stuff) and normally only work 9 months of the year.

Well where to begin, I have 5 children aged 22, 16, 15, 10, and 2, 3 girls and two boys, work at cascade brewery in Tasmania making and packaging beer and cider most days, country boy at heart and trying to buy a house soon with 5 acres. Also have a hearing problem, born with it so have about 75% of my hearing, collected a heap of cards in the 90's and got back into collecting around 2 years ago, still buying but not as many due to the insane amount of cards being released at insane prices
I used to work at South Hobart Primary and see the trucks driving from the factory - just wishing that one day they would roll so I could help pick up! :P

Here's something that up until last night I didn't know about myself...

It pains me greatly writing this on an open forum, but I feel getting this admission off my chest will bring me closer to curing this affliction.

So on Sunday I decided to go through my Paypal/Credit card history over the last couple of years and highlighted all my hobby related expenses... this has been something that I've been too lazy/scared to do previously. In the last 12 months alone I've spent:

AUD$51743 (at the current exchange rate)

The year prior was:

AUD$28239

Add another ~$10-15k in cash purchases over that period (mainly at Dandy markets)

I was literally close to tears staring at the cold, hard numbers. However, I still have a great love for this hobby and find it immensely rewarding and enjoyable. So the ultimatum: no more box breaks for me and I'll be thinking hard about which cards go into my PC from now on.

Great to read everyone's stories and backgrounds and I'm sorry for my shameful & sobering contribution

Yes.... I can understand how hard it must be to actually be able to spend more than $60K in a calender year WITHOUT EVEN NOTICING UNTIL YOU DID THE MATH!!!!!!

My deepest sympathy mate! Just remember, you don't have to go through this alone!

PS - If you finally made a sale thread you would recover half of that back within a couple of week with all your mojo!!

That's impressive Ray! good work and it's great to be honest about the amounts spent! Best of luck cutting back that expenditure and remaining in the hobby. a few dedicated PC players and less boxes will probs do the trick!

Alright some unknown info about myself

I collected stickers in primary school and actually still had them until a few years ago when I sold them on....ebay, naturally

I played lawn bowls competitively from the age of 21 to 28 and won 4 championships in that time. Retired from the sport at the grand old age of 29 when I moved from Adelaide to Sydney.

Only took up card collecting when I moved to Sydney so a late starter to the hobby

Managed to have 3 accidents in the space of 3 months one of them on leaving the crash repairers when I was 18, resulted in my insurance being cancelled for 2 years.

As a result I sold my car and did not own a car for the next 7 years. Did I save money, hell no, discovered gambling!

Well that story seems to confirm the theory that there is literally nothing to do in Adelaide!
Move away, and lawn bowls is no longer an option! lol

Lawn bowls or become a serial killer

Was easy to get a game in Adelaide, my old man was the selector so I was the first player chosen each week.

Normally the players are old men, but I guess it would help to have the old man selecting!
