Taste of Chaos 2006!

simple plan, good charlotte

Nah these guys are genuine pop/punk. Emo goes to more drastic measures like cutting yourself and stuff because of bad relationships which those guys definately don't do! Best emo line by a non-emo band trying to be emo is The Starting Line - "I'm gonna tear your ass up like we just got married". WTF

yeh fair enough if thats why you label there sound as emo id just never herd the deftones being called emo before looks like "emo" takes on alot more music genre's than i knew. To me emo is simple plan, good charlotte sorta sound anyways lets not have a argument about what genre bands are lol

i dont wanna argue either dude, personally i think all those music labels are completely retarded, music is music, the only distinction i care about is whether ist good or its shit lol! but metal has heaps of stupid labels...grindcore, thrash, speed metal, gothic, death metal, nu-metal etc etc pfft its ridiculous!

gordon7 how could of you had the album for three weeks it came out on the weekend. I know their was live bootlegs for a bout 4 of the tracks on the internt for ages but howd u get the whole album three weeks ago.
I love the EP too with tracks like; Black Lung, The Cell and Take it Away!

but their first album was very solid with probally two of my favourite songs being Perception Twin and Consequence =P~

Alright all you guys talking about Metal etc have got me listening to heaps of the not quite heavy stuff as I had a data disc with a whole bunch of albums on it that I have been sorting through! Impressed with some of the bands as I haven't listen to many of them before. Been listening to Deftones, The Butterfly Effect, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails and like them all. From that taste of music can anyone pick out some bands I might like from the following list as it is way too much to listen too and I trust all your judgment! :D

Here 'tis in alphabetical order:
36 Crazy Fists, Amen, American Headcharge, And You Will Know, Andrew WK, Audioslave, Coal Chamber, Corrosion of Confomity, Days of the New, Devil Driver, Disturbed, Down, Forte, Fu Manchu, Godsmack, Gravity Kills, Henry Rollins, Janes Addiction, Kyuss, Lacuna Coil, Machinehead, Mark of Cain, Monster Magnet, Motorhead, Mudvayne, Orange Goblin, Pissing Razors, Seven, Sevendust, Slayer, Soulfly, Taproot & Tomahawk.

Taking into account I don't like straight yelling/growling vocals, but a bit is ok as long as there is some decent vocals in there too! Thanks for your predicted help? :D

if you like HEAVY music you cant go past Slayer!

machine head and motorhead are alright too.

keep listenen to Butterfly Effect and Slipknot
Ill give you a list of songs to dload of each:

Butterfly Effect - Take it Away, Crave, Perception Twin, Consequence, Always, Aisles of White, Slow Decent, Signs.

Slipknot - Sic, Wait and Bleed, Left Behind, Duality, Vermillion Pt1, The Nameless, Pulse of the Maggots.

Slayer - RAINING BLOOD, Postmortem, War Ensemble.

my minds running blank their are many more to add to that list.

Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Children of Bodom too if you can handle a bit of scream ;)

Thanks mate! I've got most of the Butterfly Effect and the Slipknots too, will check the other stuff out! :D

audioslave: pretty good, but kind of a watered down version of RATM (which im sure youve heard, if somehow you havent theyre the greatest band of all time!), def worth a listen though. fave songs: show me how to live, like a stone.

coal chamber: crap

COC: pretty good hard rock/metal, havent heard any of their albums but saw them live when they supported pantera and they kicked ass.

disturbed: personally havent got round to listening to any of their stuff, but they are very popular, big following.

henry rollins band: meh, decent but listen to some Black Flag for some REAL Henry Rollins.

Janes Addiction: kinda an odd choice in there, def not heavy or metal but excellent guitar work by Dave Navarro, kind like the chili peppers but different. i dig them. fave songs: been caught stealing, jane says.

Kyuss: pretty cool almost psychadelic metal, worth a listen, they have a very unique sound. the lead singer from queens of the stone age was in the band.

Machine head: great metal band, growly vocals but just straight up aggressive metal, great to bang your head to, awesome guitar work. fave songs: Old, Davidian.

Mark of Cain: cool old school hard rock band from adelaide, my first ever gig i went to had them on the bill. cant remember what they sounded like, but me and my mates used to like them a lot. i think one good song was called Sunday Arfternoon Barbeques or something.

monster magnet: very average hard rock, not crap, not great.

Motorhead: very old school metal, pioneers and legends of the scene. lemmy and the boys were around before black sabbath i think, kinda good for nostalgias sake, but dont expect awesomeness. fave song: ace of spades.

Mudvayne: havent listened to much but what i heard didnt do it for me, they are pretty popular though, a lot of fans.

sevendust: i used to LOVE these guys. i listened to Home and Animosity every day for months. the album after animosity sucked so much ass though. lajon has a brilliant voice, very emotive. fave songs: almost every song on Home or Animosity.

Slayer:what can i say, i dont like them at all. they are/were HUGE and have a massive following but for me their songs have no melody at all, its just speed and dissonant riffs/solos that sound creepy. technically brilliant guitar but boring for me. they have one brilliant song for mine and thats "seasons in the abyss".

Soulfly: very cool, has the lead singer from Sepultura (also def worth checking out). pretty much just flat out heavy riffs, no solos. i like some of their stuff, other parts are average.

Slipknot: i dont like them, average music by average musicians dressed up in scary costumes...oooooooh

Killswitch engage: defintely have a listen, growly vocals mixed with really melodic vocals, musically their awesome, some of the coolest heaviest riffs youll ever hear.

not a bad wrap their jzaa.

motorhead- also give, evolution, mean machine, hell raiser and THE GAME a listen.
disturbed - are popular but alot of their material sounds the same to me their best song is down with the sickness.
mudvayne - also very popular but not something i tend to go for. Their best work would be the tracks: not falling, shadow of a man.

Slayer:what can i say, i dont like them at all. they are/were HUGE and have a massive following but for me their songs have no melody at all, its just speed and dissonant riffs/solos that sound creepy. technically brilliant guitar but boring for me. they have one brilliant song for mine and thats "seasons in the abyss".

thats the song that didnt come to my head, has a killer riff about 1 minute 40 in. Slayer are thrash metal but they have some of the most orignial and best riffs on the metal scene. angel of death is a great song too.

Killswitch Engage - Are the best metal band of the last half a decade. period.
Some of the bets guitar riffs you will ever hear with lots of squeals thrown into it. They have one amazing drummer too, one of the best ive ever seen.

Metallica, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth

are some big name metal bands that all ROCK \m/

few killswitch songs to dload are -
Fixation on the Darkness, Rose of Sharyn, Self Revolution, End of Heartache, Take this Oath.... i could go on all day :)

2 you gotta add would have to be When Darkness Falls and Last Serenade...all time classics!

and those high pitched squeals are technically known as "pinch harmonics", they are pretty hard to pull off, it took me about 5 yrs to get them squealing consistently!

Thanks guys you've been heaps of help! I can get around to KE because my 17 year old borther has everything of theirs!

As for RATM, they have always been one of my favourite bands along with Korn, but since RATM died and Jonathan Davis got "well" I haven't really delved in heavy rock areas. On of my favourite songs to play on bass is Bullet in the Head, one cool, phat bass line!

Thanks again guys, on holidays so will have plenty of time to sort through this stuff I have. :D
