Slater... Sinner or saint?

Nothing good happens after 3.00am, normally honest god fearing family people can be provoked into doing something they normally would steer clear of, try the kebab shop next to Scruffy Murphy's, a bunch of us good old Country boys go to the Origin every year and after the pubs close we go for a feed and fair dinkum here's always some tosspot wanting to be agro!.
I tried to be a peace maker with a Irish tourist being hassled by a dickhead in a Blues jumper and then along comes an Islander bloke, a huge man wanting to fight anyone, scary scary stuff!. so should a person with a profile have to retreat into a inner sanctum to avoid potential trouble?, I would have thought that someone like Slater would have had A Minder, just to be safe for everyone' sake.

Awesome player, unlucky to be out at that time. Slater would of beaten any charges laid ageinst him. Why should anyone cop a jab from a dikhead & take it. Good on ya Billy

Hindsight is 20/20.

Anyone on this forum would have reacted the same way after being shoved in the face like that. Slaters reaction was immediate and reasonable in the circumstances. If he were charged no jury would convict on that, defence of provocation easily applies.

It must be difficult for these blokes to go out because I would imagine so many moronic punters would try and sledge them to try and feel better about themselves.

Owen makes a good point about old mate falling and hitting his head, especially with the one punch can kill motto so prominent at the moment. For that reason it can be said Slater should know better but in the heat of the moment I can see why he reacted like he did.

Slater is dirty on the field but so are 50% of the players in the NRL, many of the dirtiest are currently on tour.

That wasn't a king hit. He struck Slater in the face, within a second later he copped one back. The patron is stupid for looking slightly away from someone he's just hit in the face.

I live in Logan mate, I've met plenty!

The people you describe, I call "Scum"......... I stand by my comment.

I think it was a little more than a push to Slater's head and if I was Slater I would have punched him BACK too. King hit: A blow intended to incapacitate in one hit, delivered without warning. The guy was warned by Slater to calm down in the video, Slater was assaulted first and he acted in self defence from then on. The drunken guy was given a fixed penalty notice for drunken disorderly behaviour and Slater graciously did not pursue any further charges. You guys are hilarious.
well then it wasnt a King hit. The guy cant push someone in the face and not expect something back. Also trying to incapacitate someone with 1 hit?? Are u supposed to throw a couple of warning jabs?...lol Not trying to defend what happened although i dont really see a problem with it as soon as theres contact to the head u have the right to defend yourself. Close the book and move on.

knockout Dave

they guy was about as old as and as small as Alfie Langer

Man up Slater:lol:

still, I bet the guy is pleased Gallen wasn't with Slater otherwise he would have needed Nate Myles to step in for him and take a few free ones to the head on his behalf

maybe the guy shouldn't have pushed Slater in the face after Slater had his hands all over him, maybe he should have tried to bite his ear off:lol:

if he makes the final and Sonny Bill pushes him in the face, will he react the same way?
If he does boom! lights out

he is lucky the woman was behind the guy and inadvertently prevented the guy hitting the deck, which could have resulted in Dave's picture having bars on the front and Slater with stripes or little arrows on his jersey;)

no serious damage done apart from Slater's image, hope he's learned and it serves as a warning to other sportsmen in or out of drink

Tins in the hotel for the rest of the tour, I bet the rest of the squad are over the moon with him:whistle:
