I reckon if they were numbered out of 10 they'd be worth a mint. Most buyers would probably be skeptical given there is literally no official information on the release numbers.
Given their availability, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out there's ten MAX of each player.
I think it might have mentioned on their website back in 2007 that there was ten eah of the sigs ... 2006 I've never heard an official word on. I've read from 3 to 10 though - I think it's over 3 because I've seen a few of some players for sale over the years, unless it's the same tazo moving around. 10 might be a bit high, because there's some players I've NEVER seen an 06 sig of.
I don't see they are any different, its an authentic signed item that has a limited production run. As requested, here is the Darren Lockyer signature tazo from 2007.
Dave
These tazo's are rarer than the Captains Sigs, I know a bloke who worked for Smiths Chips and he told me that pilfering was rife on the production line and that in fact very few of the signature tazo's actually made it into packets of chips. I hate using the term rare, but I make an exception for these items.
That doesn't surprise me that the workers would pilfer the best ones, sux for the kids and collectors though. I'll have to remember that for the future.
Well I thought I would start the ball rolling with Smiths to see if we can get some sort of clarification on how many were released of which player for each year. Will keep this post updated with any and all results.

Well I got a message from Smiths, this is what they had to say:
Hi Dave,
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately, we do not have that information available. Records
relating to that promotion have long since been disposed of. We
apologise that we cannot be of greater assistance.

Hi All,
I have a 2007 Gower signature edition tazo, which the wife paid about $60 - $70 for at the Bay (if I remember correctly). I also have an error of a 2007 Gower sig tazo that wasn't signed. Can't remember what I paid for that one, but it wasn't over the top.
I was also outbid on a 2006 Gower sig tazo at $120 and a 2006 Jason Smith sig tazo at $140 about 6-8 months ago.
As has been said - it depends on who wants to pay how much. Neither of these last two prices I thought were over the top, but were more than I could afford at the time.
I know one day i am going to regret selling all of mine. They should be worth heaps more than they actually get.
The thing that pisses me off the most though is the Sharks player selections for both years.
