I sold some cards (including the Kobe patch really cheap :() that ended on Thursday. It stated in the auction that payment was due within 2 days. When I got back home last night I found that I still haven't been paid for two auctions, and so I sent them a message saying that unless they paid immediately the cards would go to the next highest bidder. I haven't done anything as yet, but it's now 4 days since the auction ended, if I do 2nd-chance offer them should I leave negative feedback on the winners or is that a bit harsh? It's only 2 days over (so far), but still they clearly haven't followed the conditions of the auction...

sticky scenario, for starters, I think you're being too harsh lol, 2 days to pay only??? give them a few more days! And for the record, sellers can't leave negatives! You also can't start an unpaid dispute for 7 days after the sale ended, therefore you should at least give them that much time, if they don't pay, then start a dispute!

Well the 2 days timeframe was because I have other auctions to pay for... so I am keeping them waiting by these people keeping me waiting....

Why can't sellers leave negative? If somebody doesn't pay surely they should be able to tell people about it..?

I don't make the rules mate, but negatives cannot be left by sellers! I guess the seller's way of letting other people know is by opening an unpaid dispute (which can't be done till after 7 days anyways) and then if the buyer doesn't respond or pay, they get a strike. I think it's a 3 strike system and your suspended.

Basically the sellers ability to leave anything but positive feedback was taken away several months ago because a lot of sellers more or less couldn't be trusted with it..... there were soooooo many cases of sellers leaving unhappy buyers retaliatory negs, so ebay finally did something about it & removed their ability to leave anything but positive.

unless you are doing a "bin" option there is no point writing "must pay in 2 days" because ebay give buyers 7 days to pay anyway. With 'BIN' you can set it up during the listing process to require immediate payment via paypal at the end of the listing.

In my experience, the same people who ask for a fast payment usually take a week to send your item.

If you wanted to tell them you are taking the second chance offer go ahead, but i would expect a negative for your troubles

Bingo! You nailed there Ben!

Even if you do give it to the next high bidder what makes u think they're going to pay straight away anyway. 2 days is unrealistic. If u are keeping people waiting I'm sure they will understand your predicament since u too are a seller as they are. If they're not sympathetic then neg the people you are buying from. I would! Annnnnnd norm and Ben are right the people who want fast payment usually take ages to send anyway. I'm sure we've all had that experience. Hell I sold some stuff a while ago got paid that day and I didn't send it for a week and a half...but I dd it on purpose cos I'm an a$$hole

Whether I'm trading or selling or whatnot, I always try to give great customer service which means posting as soon as I possibly can. Heck, I went down country on Saturday and took with me the two items that had just been paid for, so that they would be posted sooner...
Luckily the guy who just bought my MJ auto paid instantly so I have now paid the outstanding auction, but it's just annoying when people don't follow your conditions/instructions.

AND... if ebay gives you 7 days to pay why do you get those annoying 'reminder to pay for your ebay item' emails after just a day or two...

Maybe because people know your conditions don't fall into ebays idea of a quick payment and you get those reminders because the seller is sending them to you

I would contact the seller you are purchasing from and advise them of your situation,I am sure they will be understand. The usual time frame for payment is a week(which is when you can open an unpaid claim),and yes since the rules have changed as a seller you can no longer leave a neg. feedback(I know it sucks). So if they haven't paid by 7 days open the claim and go to the next highest bidder, but you may end up with the same problem and will make it even longer for you to pay for your items and you may find yourself with a strike from an unpaid claim, vicious circle isn't it.Good luck with it hope it all works out for you hairy.

Thanks man, now that I sold the MJ auto it's not a big deal as I used that money to pay for the items, just hate to keep people waiting. I was primarily using this thread to ask for advice and it looks like I couldn't even do what I intended anyway... the fact that sellers make all the money for ebay I'm shocked at how little help/protection/abilty they can get...

How do you know your buyers aren't in the same situation?

Well they haven't contacted me or replied to my messages... and unlike the auctions I was waiting to pay for this one clearly stated expected payment timeframe. Why bid if you can't follow the rules?

One has just paid and said "thanks for your reminder"... mmm hmm...

because rules are meant to be broken and a lot of US sellers put that they dont ship overseas however most of the time they do. plus its fun bidding on stuff knowing that they dont send overseas and getting into disputes....thats what ebays all about!

I have to say i've done this before
