Select Tri-Star Signature series!

Select are the pitts. I hate how they treat collectors and how such a badly run and poorly marketed business can strive whilst hardworkibg and proffesional businesses struggle. But what can we do, without them we have nothing to collect

I posted this over on afltcc but I reckon these cards may even have been made back in 2009, when select did their last run of captain signatures.

Would explain why Browny's guernsey is Puma, and would have been easy to get them all do it then.

Makes me wonder are there other tri-star signatures already made, waiting to be released at certain points.

If they were made back then, it's the lack of attention to detail (with regards to the guernsey sponsor) that Select have slipped up on.

You know what would be amazing, one of the Australia card companies who actively engaged with their customers.

Sure you will always have people who may say bad things but look at the companies that do well, they engage with their customers and reap the results from this.

Simple Customer Service goes a long way.

Cheers

Select pick and choose what they respond to like they are the man Demetriou himself.

Funny thing is their silence is deafening.

Yep it is looking like this card was signed back in 2009, which begs a few questions. Why wasn't it released in a series back then? Why are Select so desperate for money now? This year has got to be one of their busiest/profitable in terms of AFL releases (Champions, Series 2, Richmond & Essendon heritage sets & Future Force.)

Richmond & Essendon wasn't Select ;)

Produced by SE, but I'm guessing Select received a slice of the cuts since their logo is on the albums/tins...

Select would have been likely paid a licencing fee for the creation of that set. they get a slice without much effort at all. Probably had some final say in what was being released too.. (so it wouldnt impact on their image if associated with it)

Money for jam really.

Cheers

Have to agree. Select have been lacking in marketing & engaging with customers compared with other card companies.

- Don't turn up to any card shows to promote their product or engage with customers
- Keep the #001 cards from collectors. What other card company in the world does this? It seems unfair that the person in charge of a card company, doesn't make this card available to collectors. I mean if he is a collector, then why can't they get the players to sign an extra 'PLAYER' edition card and keep this. Otherwise, make all numbered cards available to collectors, and if you want the #001 card, then you have the same opportunity as everyone else from busting packs.
- No youtube channel/blog/pictures/interviews of players signing cards or busting their product. Not that hard to have a video of someone from the company busting the product the day of release to promote the product and generate interest. Also, interviewing at least 1 player when they're signing cards, and talking about their pre-season career and awareness of footy cards, would be great exposure. Even Teamcoach has an android/apple app available to download...

I could go on and on...

In their defence (ESP do a bit of this but there are some things they could improve) but for Select, they really show contempt for their customers.

It just seems Select have no ambition. They could do so much more, but it looks like as long as the boss makes a fair bit of coin for himself the way things are, they won't change. A shame for collectors.

I have been a vocal critic of Selects products and policies over the last few years.

I treat them with a fair amount of contempt, however they have earned every bit of it.

I have used parody on more than one occasion but i must admit it always feels like a pointless exercise, as they have no sense of humour.

Long ago like many others i tried using reason and logic, i tried imploring with them.

Simple truth is this.

They do not care, they have never cared, Mr. Copley is happy enough with what they make each year and since he is making money, he sees absolutely no reason to change things or listen to his customers.

Those who question them shall be ignored, those who make suggestions shall be ignored & those who love collecting suffer as a consequence.

I truly wonder what they think of me and those like me that have been vocal against them.

I would love to say something poetic about friends and not enemies or something to that extent, however they haven't got the faintest idea who we are because they don't care to.

We are faceless and nameless to them because they choose not to interact with us, listen to us, ask us what we would like, or just simply respond to us.

It's no wonder this hobby is dying quickly.

Select do keep old signature cards up their sleeve. Last year just before their NRL licence expired they web saled 100 Rookie of the Year signature cards for Josh Dugan - 2009 and a couple weeks later 100 Rookie of the Year Signature cards for Hodkinson - 2010. They had been holding onto them for a couple of years and we have never seen anything like them in the NRL releases. So yes, it would be interesting to know what other Signature cards Select are sitting on from years past.
