but sorry guys we have gone well off topic so lets reign it back in ahha what does everyone think will be the next preview? superstar patch? norm smith sigs?
Think you will find you missed his point elijah as he is saying off field they havnt contributed.
I completely disagree and think the world these days are to short minded and demand reaults without acknowledging that some things have to be built and take time.
For the first 8 years fremantles crowd attendance did not grow and sat at arpund 22,000. It wasnt till they had time to establish that the crowd attendances started to grow to th 33,000 it sits at today. This is consodering that the western australian market is alot easier to crack than the sydney market.
Gws on the other hand has an average crowd attendance of 20,000 which has been building steadily every year.
So in reality you question their attendance yet they are literally only 2,000 less than that of what fremantle were at the same time in their development (and thats in a much harder market)
But they aren’t getting 20k every week mate. Most weeks are closer to 10k.
And the main difference is, as we know, Freo did not encounter any onfield success until around 2010.
GWS have had a sustained period of onfield success over 4 years. Yet they can’t even fill a 24,000 capacity stadium for a cut throat final. And that is with thousands of dogs supporters flying over.
Not trying to hate, because it benefits everyone to have an even comp where every team is sustainable and successful.
What you arent taking into account is the fact that GWS is a massively growing population. The AFL isn't expecting to suddenly turn a soccer/rugby fan base into an AFL fan base. What they're trying to do is have an AFL presence there now so the next generation of kids born in the area will choose AFL over the alternatives. It's a long term play.

mate that was the average crowd attendance for the year and I compared it to Fremantle's average crowd attendance for the year (so both home and away). And that does not consist of finals for either! So on comparison they are both roughly on the same crowd attendance in their 8th year (with gws success counter balanced by freo having an easier market).
And there was a lot more that contributed to that crowd than meets the eye. A lot of dogs supporters had their flights cancelled due to winds and didn't even make the game. the fact that the wind was so bad and it was a horrible day didn't help either.
I honestly think they are tracking well and people just have to remember that this club has been put in rugby heartland and to change the attitudes of the public in that area will take time. Wait for the young kids to grow into paying adults and then see how it all stacks up. AFL is winning the battle and as the youth grow up this will become more and more recognisable.
but yep I am going to grab a box or two and hit some breaks. not fussed with making money back as not what its about for me but hopefully a box or two will let me trade for the cards I need.
In a desperate attempt to bring this back on topic...just thought I'd share some other sports innovative ways on autos. The golf one is a little like the cut out signature concept...not the best looking but good on them for doing something little different
Yes I realise I might be guilty of being such part there but when someone else starts saying those sort of things, ...ok we'll take it to another thread
Meanwhile it will be interesting to see how the rest of this series iii turns out... (Any further specialism- just focus on other cards that makes you happier)
I am really hoping for a superstar guernsey signature with older players. Or a premiership coach signature set with signatures from all the coaches! then follow that up with the quad or triple coach sig
yep wouldn't be bad. what I would love is a dual patch card for players who have excelled at two clubs. Using both club guernsey hahahah is that too much to ask =p
maybe those who have won premierships or brownlows at two clubs
Not many cards left to fill out the box... so very interested to know what is left.. must be either small subsets (less than 1 per team) or numbered very low.. some updated calculations for anyone interested.
