Hi everyone,

There was a bit of discussion on Selects Facebook page.

@Production Tony, I would be happy to share our collectors feedback with you.

You have a licence that people would give their first born to have access to and to create amazing products that people really want to collect.

I'm sure having access to a majority of your customers feedback to understand what it is they want would be something that most companies would kill for.

Over to you guys.

I have recently had dealings with Tony and he was very helpful indeed. I know Select have the capabilities of delivering amazing product, just want them to do it so I can buy it!

Same here....... Imagine if they put out a product that resembled something like Exquisite basketball...... one can dream!

It's only simple things they need to do I mean series 2 is not too bad, champions is rubbish but it's an easy fix just look at nrl traders it has simple inserts like champions but for 1 big difference legend sigs and dynamic duo cards every few cases, yea it's a long shot pulling 1 but at least it's something

And future force was great in 2012 but has become stale needs a bit of tweaking but not hard to do. An extra insert or 2 to stop the box searching would be a start.

I would love for select to come on here and have a discussion with us but I'm not holding my breath, maybe someone might go on another rant instead

Would love to see Select engage with the fans, I don't expect them to, but it would be a positive, I'm not getting my hopes up after reading a very generic reply on Facebook, we shall wait and see...

If Select's products continue to sell out each year, I would be very suprised if we will see any changes.

There is a $imple $olution to make them li$ten, $top buying their product.
They don't sell out I have heard they only sold 50% of honours and there is no way this years champions will sell out its the worst release they have ever done, guarantee you will still be able to buy both releases in 20 years time

You are probably right!

Also just to keep in mind a certain someone has control over all of the left over Select stock.

He can keep drip feeding products out into the market as he wishes and if it gets hot, he can bump up the price......and of course they are always just about "sold out" when you ask in store or over the phone.

See what Select does with Champions is that they make 600 cases that get distributed through a certain wholesaler (with the 600 case cards) and a heap more product that goes through the newsagents/network services etc. Id be estimating 2000 - 3000 cases overall for Champions (including the 600 for Hobby)

This is there biggest money maker.......im talking a lot of profit here in these lower end releases.

I also know of another company that bases all there figures on selling through 70% of stock.....what happens to that remaining amount they really don't care about.... in some cases that stock is either added in as value at wholesale level for resellers as incentives for other products or even pulped.

Your right @Matt26 and the same person that has control over the stock also says you must buy champions if you want future force, that's where it is wrong if champions was any good wouldn't have a problem with it, I was speaking to someone last night who said they have sold 10 cases of nrl traders and only 2 cases of champions, and to make champions better it's such an easy fix you have an insert 1:72 and a sig or similar 1:3-4 cases if they did that the sales would be way up

There is no reasoning having a crack at a certain "Somebody". In fact if they didn't hold stock, there would be a flood of cards hitting the market at the end of every release. What do you think the cards would be worth then? Without the "Somebody" the market will collapse. The personal attacks are unnecessary.
We also tend to focus on the negatives about Select. Look at the positives: They held 3 separate signing sessions and provided 1000s for free cards at those sessions. Did they have to do this? No, but they chose to give back to the collectors.

In reference to Select listening to the collectors, we can only judge by the next release. Do they need to start accepting our feedback? No. But if they did it lm sure it would reflect better on them as a company and on their bottom line.

Very well said Ming!!!

There's far to much emphasis made on having to take on board advice/ ideas etc from various forums or the belief is the release won't be successful. Yes, feedback from collectors is great, but they way majority of the people go on about it here, it's like they will go bankrupt if they don't interact.

Look at ESP for instance, they've taken on board feedback from collectors etc... from all different forums (in doing so they have inadvertently created a rift between collectors too). All along the collectors have been screaming for a jersey card and they still haven't delivered. They've released all different types products with extra parallels and what not, but still haven't delivered a jersey card that collectors were hoping for in their first release... so it begs to question are they really listening to what the collectors want? Or only taking on board ideas that are easy for them to do and make good $$$ from?

I believe it's wrong that companies such as Regal and ESP and treated like protected species on here and Select's name is always dragged into the mud. This has been going on for years, maybe this is the real reason Select don't want to interact and take on board any ideas ;).

I don't disagree but it's not just to this forum that they have not engaged. Do you remember the Q and A on their Facebook Page where posts were deleted etc.

Game used semi final jersey to be used it what is rumored. If they were really listening to the feedback they would've released a game used jersey cards years ago .

I expect Select is monitoring this now which i think is a good idea.

If they are then this would be my advice to them.

Please start to interact. I can't speak for all but i think you will find that most would be respectful during this process and those that aren't should be removed from the conversation swiftly.

Once open dialogue begins i couldn't care less about the past. Just the future.

We understand that change will take time, there are many variables you might be concerned we wouldn't take into consideration, such a production times for a product, availability of players, manufacturing technology....etc but i think you would be surprised.

We do not expect you to make exactly what we are asking for, your vision has successfully driven the company since 93 but we hope you will take feedback on board.

We hope it may inspire you but more importantly we believe it will help you understand your customers better.

I personally would love to see what you could design with this understanding. I'm certain you would blow our socks off.

I would expect that if you show some good faith in making some adjustments the hobby would too, by buying product to allow you to make further adjustments you have ideas for.

We have a symbiotic relationship whether you like it or not, i would imagine with a little teamwork the hobby would flourish again.

Just a quick reply to Select doing the signing sessions mentioned. That's all great for collectors from that state, but there are collectors from all over the country that will never be able to make it to a signing session.

This is so true, way to once again put us collectors here at a disadvantage select.

I have noticed that in the last couple of weeks Select have made a real effort to engage people on their Facebook page. Lots of "vox pop" type questions and even encouraging (and replying to posts in) a lively debate on Mike Sheehan's "Top 50 of the last 25 years" list.

Small steps they are, but credit where it is due :-)

Yea agree and I suppose it can't all be about cards, let's hope they start doing similar stuff with future releases
