It doesn't matter what they release... I won't buy a packet. I will be buying my sets cheaply. Either from Ebay or card shop sets. Why would you buy 10 packs for $30 when you can get a full set for cheaper. Plus you get more respect from most Ebay seller than you do from Select.
I agree with you Blade, I tend to buy mine off eBay as I can choose the cards I want & it's cheaper. I wish select would sell the inserts seperatley though as I find it unfair that all the sellers out they buy cases & get all the good inserts. I'm always just after the Raiders inserts
Strike was released towards the end of the season & I think sold really well but if they released them before the start of the season then they would sell a hell of a lot more. Whatever they release I hope they sell them before the 1st week of the season as I tend to get most of my teams cards signed then

only because places like the post offices and servos have them selling at $1 a packet because they are a piece of **** no one wants and cant even fool the little kids at $3 a pack each.
To be perfectly honest since i started collecting the "LOST" card series i have grown more and more disapointed with what Select has expected us collectors to put up with and pay premium $$ for, What other card makers put out is far more supreme and are a fraction of the cost.
i realise the collectors of other cards in particular Basketball and TV show releases out number NRL collectors by 200 to 1 but come on, Select have nothing compared to the others.....but yes i will only collect my EELS stuff again.
i wont be collecting them an it wont bother me too much wat is in the set. aslong as there is at least something interesting in there to try to crack from a box as thats the fun part for me

I'm the same, I've only been collecting Knights cards since the early 2000s. There hasn't been anything that's made me want to buy a box or case since then ... probably the patch cards in 2003 was the last time I was tempted.
When the number one hit in the set is a basic sig card numbered out of 100, there's just no incentive to do anything other than buy the Knights team set and their one or two inserts off ebay.
I am undecided as to whether I will collect a full set or just the base set and Broncos inserts. There is just no imagination in the NRL product and as Dave S said above, the companies who produce all the non-sport stuff have it all over Select.
Now wouldn't it be nice if Select were to commission artists to actually draw a sketch card and just have one per box................now that would be something nice.
I think what Select is trying to do is have one release for the kids (who the cards are targeted at) and the second release for more serious collectors. Afterall, they need to build up their brand with a younger audience to continue to keep sales going over the coming years.
Panini is doing the same thing in the US...having some cheaper releases aimed at kids, and the high end stuff for adults.
I dont blame Select for doing this but i would like them to expand on their upcoming releases especially for the higher end release to reflect some of the changes we have seen overseas.
