Saints Alive!!!!

main problem with the saints is they are soft, aside from hayes, riewoldt and maybe a handfull of others... hawks were simply a heap tougher stronger and meaner in the prelim and made them look like boys

kozzie is hopeless i reckon given his height and overall ability... he just doesnt seem to ''get it''... unfulifilled promise i guess

need to get rid of some of those poor performing fringe players eg fiora and the rest need to toughen up if they wanna mix it with the hawks and cats

plenty of changes ahead for them i reckon

Just in...

St Kilda defender Max Hudghton has confirmed that he will play on with the Saints in 2009.

The diligent full-back arguably had the best season of his career this year, stopping some of the game’s most prolific forwards in their tracks and being recognised in the 40-man All-Australian squad.

Hudghton debuted with the Saints in 1997 and has played 227 games, forging his name as one of the league’s finest and most respected defenders. The 32-year old managed to stay fit in 2008, thanks much to St Kilda’s increased investment in strength and conditioning staff and is looking forward to another season in the red, white and black

Main problem for the Saints is they have Nick Riewoldt. The guys 1 of the softest going round and is 2nd only in the "Most Overrated" category to Jeff White.

With all due respect, you CLEARLY haven't watched many St Kilda games this season.

- He ranked #1 in the AFL for contested marks (4 more than Franklin, 16 more than Richardson and 18 more than Brown)
- He ranked #2 in the AFL for marks (11 less than Richardson, 19 more than team mate Sam Fisher)
- He ranked #3 in the AFL for marks inside 50 (behind Franklin and Fevola, not bad for playing up the ground this year)
- He ranked #9 in the AFL for goals and #1 at the Saints
- He ranked #4 in the AFL for goal assists (1 behind Bateman and Mooney who were tied #2, not bad for your leading goalkicker)

If that's over rated and soft, then I wish my entire team was an over rated bunch of softcocks.

Seriously, do people actually watch football before shooting their mouths off these days?

And yet he makes so little impact on a game for getting all those lovely on paper stats?
Anyone can gather stats. Nathan Brown for Melbourne was leading the league in marks 1 year and getting 23 possies a game, but man what a big name he was!

Seriously, does anyone out there believe that Footy is more than stats these days?

I think I know what you mean by softest Ben, I think he needs a dose of mongrel in him. He's a fair and great player but doesn't have that edge, I'm not saying he needs to play unsociable football but he needs a lesson off Campbell Brown in the harden up department. I wouldn't put him in the overrated class though.

Contested marks, marks inside 50, goals, goal assists and what ever else we can research off the net doesn't make a player hard.

I’ve played 220 senior games of metro football and if this is soft then i'm not to sure if you guys are watching the same footballer, Rewolt never pulls out of a contest and only ever has eyes for the ball, something that is a lot more courageous than sniping little try hard footballers like brown who are only selected for their physical prowess and not their ability

You have a point but I'm not sure about the sniping little try hard footballer quote.

I've played over a 20 year period in Western Suburbs of Melbourne, Country Victoria & the Northern Territory does this make me hard?

Good mark, funny how it always comes back to this mark...But the guy is mentally weak and has no leadership. Champions have a little something special above their skills...Riewoldt lacks this.

A few years ago I would of agreed but these days :blink::blink:

Roo goes hard in every contest these days and has developed into a leader. And if soft is running all day

Comparing White to Roo is like chalk and cheese. One had his hands on his hips and the other was up the ground
