Any chance we can start cracking down (harder) on those failing to resize their scans when posting maildays?

I know it's been brought up time and time before, but it's happening more and more lately.

Some even going to the trouble to increase the size of their mailday font (all of it) and going on and on and on...

Can't people just post their cards, and a BIT of blurb with the scans, rather than telling us what they had for breakfast, the colour of the card, rah rah rah....

End rant...

are mine too big still Scotty?!?

you mentioned resizing my scans after my big Exquisite Mailday, and then with the Finest Cards thread i made yesterday i compressed them to make them way smaller?!?

were they still too big?!?

For me i like that fact that some people get heaps of details in their mail. It would be pretty lame to just scroll through 20 cards. As for the scans, i with you there.

Not meaning to single out anyone, but personally, I could do without having to scroll down 4 kilometres to read the next bit of someone's mailday. I don't get the point of hitting Enter 20 times between cards???

Yeah Ev, yours are still huge. I can fit 1.5 of your cards in my screen and my resolution is 1152x864 on a 17" screen.

Don't get me wrong, I love reading how someone picked up a card, etc, but I can't stand reading about when someone blows up the size of the font so all you can see is:

GOLD!!!

With about 100 carriage-returns either side of the text.

I mean how f-cked up does that look?

To be honest, and I know my opinion is probably not all that sought after sometimes, but I'm happy to provide it ;) but when I see that, I'm quick to go back, and look at a different mailday rather than seeing all that shit.

Scotty,

you got anger issues LOL...

well, everyone is different, sometimes, it's easy to accept and embrace.. I would appreciate people who didn't just scan at 2400dpi but resolution at 400x300 just to make other members miserable, that would take about 3mb for a single scan to load.. we have no member like that. :)

Some people take pride of how they acquire a certain card, some people can spend thousands on cards per week and share with us, Some people want us to read in curiosity... I don't see it's really affecting any of us..Without these guys, I don't think I will ever be able to see some cards.. let alone buying it..That's why mailday section is the most viewed section in most of the forums anywhere across the world..And I am sure admins always do their best and make decision on everyone's best interest....but not every single issues..IMO.

just my 2 cents worth..

I personally like the larger pics and the details of the cards!!!!

Also like to read about the card with the colouring and numbering!!!

And also know I'm guilty of doing this!!!!

Only thing I don't like is having a page/screen of blankness just to scroll down to the card!

But with that, it creates anticipation and excitement to see the card!!!

I really like how some people get creative with their maildays!!!

I mean, it's basically peoples highlight for the day, they should be allowed to show off!!!!

haha!!!

I do believe that mods have also made mention in previous times how there's no need to have "posters" as a mailday.

Regardless to what monitor, or connection speed, we need to be able to accommodate everyone....

I hear what you're saying Linn, and too would like to hear how some cards are picked up, but there are much more simpler ways to display a mailday rather than:
1 - having to scroll a mile between cards
2 - having to scroll just to see 1 card
3 - and then displaying the text (sometimes just one word) to the same size of the card.

If people have some blurb for us to read, just type it in rather than making a front page news story about it..

Oh, and yeah I got anger issues...

Ev, when you host with Photobucket (assuming you are, most do), if you edit the image, you can resize to a smaller format, I think it's website/email, but will need to clarify. Scan as you normally would, the scans looked great, just the size.

i'll keep playing around with my new scanner Scotty and try to get them smaller

Don't need to play around with the scanner mate. You can re-size them in Photobucket to 'Message board' size and then it'll be all good :D

Personally I agree with the Poster size photo bit, but the font and such? I think that if you don't like people getting excited about their cards and showing them off how they see fit, then don't look at them. Pure and simple.

Scotty,

Absolutely, poster size are not really cool since I am planning to buy Auus EEE PC :lol:

I understand your points.. I am sure admins would create some sticky threads on resize, poster and graphics issues.. when they have some free time..

You have many valid opinions there.. maybe you can write some FAQ regarding this.. and admins can do the sticky thread...??
