Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

So Tuesday it is? I reckon I can get away with the current draft day and time but other weeknights could be tricky.

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

Looks like the current time of Tuesday night will stay. The only one that has said he might have issues is JayRoy. I'll try and grab a few extra people over the next day. If anyone wants to invite anybody that is a good sport, doesn't quit leagues when they lose a couple of games or have connection dropouts when they get behind by large margins, then go ahead and invite. I do like having CPU teams in the league too, they are always available to play when there are no user teams about :).

We may have to discuss the rules regarding trades too. Some of the trades going through in the other leagues are quite unrealistic....Do we want to leave it up to the AI to determine what's acceptable or should admins step in for the far fetched? The veto option doesn't really work as if it was a trade created by the Trade Finder the Cpu has obviously already determined it is acceptable.

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

Agreed, some very shady trades especially regarding draft picks for draft picks. I probably shouldn't have done that in the other league... However I know the CPU does cancel them if Veto'd as it has happened to me in another league. Which was good to be honest. Much fairer. As an admin, I don't think you actually can stop trades anyhow can you?

I think the player based trades have been passable in leagues, no real complaints, but yeah, draft picks only are kinda terrible. Maybe we make a rule on those based around only 1 for 1 with draft picks, and only same round for same round? But I have no qualms about any of the player + pick trades, even if you can score a 1st rounder for a 2nd rounder out of it.

Side note, man am I looking forward to Pro difficulty. Playing on Allstar, I light up from downtown, but CANNOT win because I simply cannot score in the paint, no matter how wide open. As we speak I'm at half time, down 10 with the CPU having dropped 30 of 40 points in the paint through heavy traffic, while I have 4 PIP, both from FB...its ridiculous. They're shooting 70%! And 1 thing I know I can do well on 2k games is defend, whether I struggle to score or not, I am a good defender, yet they're shooting it 70%...it's just not even fun!

I don't think admins can pull the pin on a trade at the moment, however, i'm led to believe most of management of the online association has been built around this nba2k.com website which is still yet to launch. So i'm expecting a lot more control and features to be accessible once it finally open.

I don't mind so much the 2 * 2nds for 1 * 1st. It's the ridiculous pick trades that would never happen in real life like 1 * 2nd traded for a 1st and a 2nd OR a current 1st traded for a future 2nd??? They are the ones that i think should be overuled.

As for CPU play on allstar, i've found each game sooo different, which i guess you would want in any league. My first two games i was flogged by 20+. Then the next two i won so easily i thought i must be getting the hang of it. Then dropped another big loss! No lead is ever safe as the CPU goes on huge runs where every pass or dribble move you attempt is a steal and fastbreak. Recently i played and was winning by 16 going into the 4th quarter, i ended up having to hit a buzzer beater to win the game....and if it had of missed i likely would have had to buy myself a new controller because i was quite frustrated by that point. I haven't really tried Pro yet so will be interresting to see the difference. I'm happy as long as the CPU is competitive and capable of winning games.

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

What time Perth time does it all kick off? cause iv got an early semi final either 6:15 or 7pm that night..

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

Damn now I'm stuck...I have a couple of school mates wanting to do a league...but I'm already in 3. I'm reluctant to drop the Allstar league, despite not actually having any fun playing those games because I'm enjoying the pace of it and the trading and such, but it's either that league or this league I'd have to drop... I didn't realise how few 3 leagues was!

Thoughts? Drop the Allstar league that most have quit on already, or forget my school mates? I was leaning towards quitting this league before it even started since leagues seem SOOOO impersonal at the moment this year, but the website launch might just fix that and we'll all be chatting and sharing stuff instead of being in the same league but having little or no contact...

What to do...

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

I'm in a league with 1 of my best mates. With 2k11, he and I would text each other talking about our respective Associations and such, so with this new feature, we decided to do a joint Association instead of separate offline 1s. So it's only him and me with 28 CPU teams. Having a ball with it, which is why that's not a discard option

But I'm also reluctant to give up on the Allstar league cause while it has been frustrating as hell, surely I'll get used to the difficulty at some stage. But then there's not a whole lot of activity in there.

Thought is simple... Buy me a PS3 and 2k12... and then I'll join up with you LOL

That's actually something I wouldn't mind doing with a mate, is the whole joint association thing. I think that's great that they allow an online association with only 2 users :)

Ya'll just lucky I don't own a PS3 or I'd take you to school with my timberpups ;)

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

I understand the 2 player one. Waaaaay back i used to drive over to Andrew's house and we played a 2 player season in NBA Inside Drive 2004....takes a long time getting through a season that way lol.

As soon as online association was announced i said we'd do a 2 player one just like old times....it would have been this one but i thought throwing in a few more reliable active people wouldn't hurt.

I'm likely to just keep it as this one and the MB one for now. I have no idea what sort of legs the MB one will have as like you said, there isn't much communication. I've been ignored by a few people trying to schedule a time for a game. And people have been leaving. Up to you whatever you choose...school mates aren't interested in joining this new one?

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

Nah they wouldn't have the draft time. Think I'll drop the Allstar 1. Want to do at least 1 good fun 1 with you and Stepp and such. Just annoying I can't do 4...

Michael, do you know what the different advancement times of online leagues are? As in, what's the period of time for Slow, Normal and Fast? I would be assuming Fast is the 4 hours, normal 8 hours and slow being 12? or some such, but can't seem to find the information anywhere.

Yep, i'm fairly certain it is 4-8-12.

Also, there is roughly 170 days in an NBA season so 4 hour advancements (4 * 170 / 24) = 4 weeks to reach the playoffs

4, 8, 12. Cheers :) Yeah 1 month is pretty sweet. Do we know how many seasons online associations can accommodate? I suppose we can only get 10 in anyway...but yeah.

No idea what the limit is but by year 10 you'd have veterans like Durant in their twilight years :) Yer, by 10 seasons + time for the playoff series each season + the Live Offseason period, we'd definetly be sitting at the release date of 2K13 by then.

Yeah I was only asking as I was wondering if it there was a limit? Though as you said, and as I deduced, 10 would probably be a maximum anyhow just based on 2k13 deadline lol

Just had a thought...so we want to start this association now or should we wait until after the NBAs Tuesday meeting in case they miraculously strike a Labor Deal and we'll get the rookies put into the game? I say Tuesday, cause the latest seems to be that if no deal at this meeting coming Tuesday with a mediator, then there is likely no NBA til after Christmas!

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

yeah i would wait until that for sure , you never know might get an early christmas present , pretty funny how you play against the computer teams as well , im really enjoying this years league with a certain amount a gms to play each day is a really good idea and the team budget , so far so good so i really think tis league is gonna be a belter , ive added skillswitch and just waiting to hear from wombat but he should be in

Yeah gotta say I'm loving the 2 man league I'm in. Talking trades, resigning players, trading, always got games (cause I tend to slow myself on playing them and concentrating on seeking trades and such instead alot of the time). There are definite improvements needed...like launching their website for 1 thing since the website (upon more recent reading) is meant to actually be the entire league centre! EVERYTHING is apparently meant to run through the website from trades, to chats, to posting up stuff, to administration actually having some controls and everything. So despite having wicked fun already, we're really only playing the shell of the game at the moment...

Re: PS3 NBA2K12 Online Season

I'd say go ahead and run with the Tuesday draft time. I'd love to be running around with Irving, Kemba and the like but they won't be available for a while. Even if a deal is miraculously struke Tuesday, the first two weeks have been cancelled already which takes us to an earliest season start of November 15th? That's a month away at the absolute earliest. Assuming 2K can add the rookies as soon as a deal is struck, they need to submit the patch request to PS which generally take 2 weeks to approve and make available.
