Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Zelmeister/GreenGoblin - You going to be online sometime this afternoon? We have a Season 1 game...which isn't crucial...but spose we should at least try to get it knocked off. If not, it doesn't change anything playoff-wise so spose it doesn't matter :)

Sweet. And the playoffs are being played as we see them yes? 2 Division Leaders take 1st 2 spots? Just checking so I know who I am due to be playing and to start organising those games!

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Alidrew we got to play our match by tonight i will be in the arvo till all night tonight so will defs get it done if ur on

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

That's really unfortunate. No proof of the game existing because of that either!

DW though, I'm sure if you can get Koori to tell the mods on the 2K website then you will be able to get the win if you were up big and he deliberately left.

I played Matty Bowen and got a 99-97 win. Was up by 12 at halftime, 52-40 before he came roaring back. The last two games I've played (Matt and Swish) have been a bit faster pace then the few before that. Made me play a bit out of my comfort zone so lucky I rallied back in the 4th and got the win.

Rudy followed his 58 point game with a 47 point game on 21/29 shooting. Aaron Brooks found his shot early, scoring 16 of his 17 in the first half but then went ice cold.

Dalembert was my glue guy with 6 points, 7 boards, 2 steals and 5 blocks.

Playing a bit faster hasn't let me give Sam or David Lee the touches they deserve though, hopefully the next game is a bit slower. I had a 1 point lead with about 26 seconds left, Kobe was ridiculous down the stretch. I had the 1 point lead and the ball, I thought he would play defense and try and get a board and the last shot with a difference of 2-3 seconds between the shot-clock and game clock.

Instead he fouled Sam Dalembert. Bad idea, the guy has an awesome stroke. Sunk both FT's with a perfect release to give me a 3 point lead.

Not to be outdone Kobe went down the other end got a tricky reverse layup with the foul and drilled the foul shot. Tie game 97-97.

13 seconds left in the game I take it down, who do I go to. Not Brooksey he's been cold. Surprise surprise here's Rudy Gay hahah.

Rudy fakes the jumper, goes baseline, hesitates then throws it down on Brook Lopez with 0.5 seconds left. Timeout, Kobe doesn't get a shot off in time.

Capped an 18 point fourth for Rudy. Beasty.

Thanks to ITSBRANDON and Howey for your quick replies!

If DaDingo is inactive what do you guys want to do, not count his votes for the awards?

If that is the case I am only waiting on one man, Sam397!

Sheesh 58? 47? I think I need to start cheesing more so I can get a real high score up. I've hit 30 only 3 times all season with any player and often only just break 20 with only 1 player in most games. I want a high scorer!

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

It definately comes down to play style, im like you Ben i rearely have anyone over 20 points on my sides.

I've noticed with the Grizz i have alot of inside guys so would that be considered cheesing if i used them where they can hit shots (in the paint)? All this talk of cheesing has got me thinking twice about going inside for shots (which Westbrook & Ellis are high ranked at) and leads to me taking stupid shots i'll never hit. Should i just play it how i see it and not worry about what every one else thinks?

Yes, i guess it depends how good the mix is on your team.

Up until my last game which was the Double OT thriller against the Knicks, i had not had a single player hit 30 all season. The player with the highest scoring average on my team atm is at 17.3ppg and my team averages 94ppg so my scoring is very well spread out.

Yeah totally agree :) I personally don't care how others play really, as long as it's clearly not just forcing inside all the time (which a mate of mine was doing to me the other day outside the league. He chooses Boston, then takes 3 shots the entire game outside of the key )

My teams mix is good, everyone can make shots. Martin is averaging maybe 19? but after him it's Mo at 15ppg and Wallace at 14! I just skip it round and find the open man :)

Well thats the thing i never force a drive they just seem to be open an awful lot or take passes where they are open running in.
Meh i'll see how it goes, i havn't played enough with them to know what they are all about so if thats how they like to play thats how they'll play :v:

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Haha 3 shots outside the key...i woulda just given up i reckon haha

Haha nah I soldiered on and beat him anyway ;) Mind you it came down to uhhhh dirty-ish tactics! He was up 1 with 20 seconds left, and missed 2 free throws, and I went down the other end, missed the jumper, but my sub 5 seconds ago flew in for the putback jam to put me up 1 with 5 seconds left. I decided since he was newer to the game that he'd suck at FTs, so I fouled him  He missed them both, I took the rebound and played keep things off for 4 seconds

Nah mate, you rarely force it, and in the end, if we're all honest, we all force it at times. It's part of the game! I was using the term "cheesing" loosely before. I simply meant going to the 1 guy on more possessions, which sometimes just occurs because of the way you run plays, the way the D breaks down, the break, whatever! I tend to flick it round alot or look for a jump shot with different players. Others might use hesitation moves (which I have never figured out) or dribble moves (something else I've never figured out) to get round players and take it to the hole more often than not. Me, if I shake loose, I jump shoot often, but then that's my style when I play basketball in real life, so it translates.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

So nick are you done with practice are we going to be able to get some real games in, i only have a game against Memphis this week and New Orleans but New Orleans are nowhere to be seen.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Yeah, you on Nick? I'm heading home now :woot: So up for some games, practice games too if no league games are on offer :)

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

I could be up for some practise games too if I hurry up and pack to go away tomorrow...and league games of course!

Well you know I like my "go-to" swingman to carry the offensive load for my team ;)

That said I drop a lot more points per game than you though, I play faster-paced, not as good defense either.

I'm dropping 100 a game, Gay is averaging 30 of them?

But yeah that's just the way I like to play. In the beginning of the season Gay was only dropping around 27 but Brooks had his shot. He's struggled the last 10 games or so, so I haven't taken as many jumpers as him.

Also the point totals for swingmen like Gay tend to be high when I play fast-paced teams, because I try to match them.

But yeah I'm not fussed either way, prior to those two games I have been trying to spread it round a bit, get David Lee some looks, and Brooks into the lane a bit more instead of just jumpers.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

I'll be on about 4.30 for some practice then possibly some league games later tonight or tomorrow if im comfortable enough with the Grizz. I've only used them twice and only for about a 1/4 in each game

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Played a great game with nzgamer! He's definitely put those cheesing ways behind him. Was tight in the first half, but I switched up my D start of the 3rd and scored 9 unanswered to start the 2nd half in 90 seconds. He slowly kept the gap and closed though and in the last 2 mins closed the gap from 10 to tied! I had an inbound pass with 12.5 seconds left, and he picked it off! Luckily, he thought there was less time than there was and put up a quick shot, missed, and I grabbed the board. I couldn't get a shot up though, but got OT. Managed to pull away in OT and take the win. Martin top scored with 22, 20 in the 2nd half. Varejao was the POtG with 18 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Wallace chipped in with 12 and 12 while Mo had 17 and 7 assist.

Had 1 of my largest PIP tallies of the season, but the faster pace meant Ds not set up and so we'd get inside more.
