Of course it is a rip off, but the dude is charging $10 just to send to the US, and asks to be contacted for international shipping charges. If you didn't get a quote before winning the auction, then he has control, all you can do is try to negotiate, get it sent to someone in the US then forwarded to you, or not buy it if you think it is too much. The shipping charge would have probably slowed down the bidding (less people willing to pay that much in shipping), so the total may still be reasonable for you? It's your call really.

A seller is trying to charge me $33 for shipping, i've refused to pay till they revise their shipping costs..

Doc is right and if you got the card $20 cheaper than it normally sells for because of his shipping then its not bad. This is why you ask BEFORE bidding ESPECIALLY when US shipping is $10US. That would automatically tell you you aint getting $2.50US to here.

$35? Youch! Only once have I paid that and it was for Global Express with full insurance on a card I bought for $600US...so fair cop I thought.

Let him know that Express costs $25 or Registered with tracking is $10.15 + the First Class International cost of no more than $2.

I doubt the seller doesnt how much postage, any of the forms used to send to, but instead knows people will either pay or not get there cards. I'd be making sure he uses a postage method that costs near enough 35 bucks just to screw him, but as previously mentoined, you shot yourself in the foot by not getting a postage price before it ended

Its a massive pain in the arse, but as Doc said, maybe it kept the price down; paying 76 for a card and 35 postage is no different to paying 100 for a card and 10 bucks for postage.

Thanks for your help guys yeah I already thought about how the postage kept the price down wasnt to bad and it is a graded esq patch not to upset Ebay has its new raiting so ill just wait till he gives me feed back and then give him low stars for shipping price etc.

The star rating system is completely anonymous, so no need to worry about retaliation on that front. Still, can't hurt to check with him on the shipping charge, try to negotiate him down a little.

Negotiate with the seller before you accept that $35 charge!

I had a couple of auctions won lately and they reduced the shipping cost. Thats after I emailed them.

The first one was $11 for 3 cards which the seller listed for Australia but I felt it was really high so I emailed them and they put it down to $8.

The second one was $16 for 15 cards... The seller didnt put any amount on the description but I trusted/assumed that he will not overcharge... I emailed and told him that it was really high. He went to the post office and asked for the exact postage. He e-mailed me back and asked if $8 is fair enough... Of course it was ok with me I know it will cost him around that much with all cards in separate toploaders...

Just ask the seller Matey!

Always email first man, it sucks but everyone usually learns this way. Trust me you will only do it once! Just make sure you make a note not to buy from him in the future.

I paid $25 postage on a card a few weeks back, and that's what it cost, fully registered. Sure, it's a bit harsh all the time, but if it's worth it, it's worth it.

But, you could always pay it, wait till it arrives, see what THEY paid, and if it's much, say they only forked out $2.50 then say it didnt arrive, you get a full refund, and then you send them back the difference. That, and they'll lose extra funds to receive the payment.

Fark!!!!! Whenever the seller doesn't list the shipping price & I win & they send me some unreasonable shipping cost I always send them an email asking them to justify their shipping cost & also send them a link to the USPS shipping calculator to show them the real price..... the majority of the time I get the shipping cost reduced without much troubles.

Bad idea, shipping calculators are nearly always wrong cause people don't know how to use them and a bubble mailer is classified as a normal letter. Usually people get a quote from them for like $10.55 or something ridiculous for First Class International, but go to the post office to find I'm right
