Postage costs

im guessing you're the administrator of this site i hope ****ing not. Damn cause when did expressing a opinion on the site a become a crime or has this turned in USA were you can be sued for practically anything.

It's not the US here, but it is still a Police State, right Graham :razz:

And we also send them off to off-shore detention centres!

Surely by his logic we should charge for the megabytes we used to send the pm's and set up trade threads.

if sellers can overcharge, i might start charging for going to get my item from the PO and then charging them my gym fees too because sometimes when the sticky tape a card between to top loaders and you dont have scissors it takes a bit of effort and sometimes too the yellow envelops are sealed really good and sometimes you cant open them by ripping them so you need to use scissors and the time it takes to find scissors should be another cost cos i can never find the scissors in my house, my gf always puts them up the back in the laundry so i have to walk alllllllll the way down the back and get the scissors but then i have to wash the scissors cos (ill start charging water fees too) they have fabric softner on them from where my gf cut the softner open,...i like to use fluffy over cuddly, i find it much more soothing on the skin, i think it goes well with dynamo washing power, the liquid form, but dont get the one with a touch of cuddly cos then you have cuddly softner mixed in with fluffy softner and it really isnt good for your clothes or your skin, and make sure that when you hang your shirts on the line you use a coathanger...i prefer the wooden ones to the plastic cos they make your shirt keep their form better but if you dont have a coathanger you can use pegs and the time old saying "if its on the line you dont need to iron"

You don't even need two stamps on a single card in a small bubble mailer. The thickness of a small mailer is usually below 20 mm, under which an item of mail is considered a small letter. In any event, I'm glad the OP has had a pair of rubber gloves used on his account here...one right up the bracket!

LMAO ...... I love good sarcasm  the advice on softening the clothes was very insightful :)

I think when charging post on a card forum ( no fees ) it should be what it cost you and just a little more for ebay to cover fees !

PS, Hard sleeves do cost money too and i pay $7 for a pack of 25 which is about 30c each

Funny and interesting reading :D

lol mate you think the card magically just jumps into a padded envelope get packaged and magic fairies take the card to post office and send it out to you.

You forget its shipping and handling costs.

Im sure the type of person who buy some takeaway and goes my pizza costs me 6 dollars **** off im want it for 60 cents.

Grow up people this inst 1989 were i could buy 100 little sweets for a dollar its 2009 were you're lucky to buy anything for under a dollar.

Mate i hate to see what would you do if someone charged you for case of cards like 50 dollars for postage you would complain that like 5kgs or more didn't cost 5 dollars to post across Australia

This is my biggest beef.....

People who charge "handling" costs. You're not a freaking courier!

If you want to jack up your postage costs to break even on fees, then jack up the price of your product/card.

If you get sent something, and you're not there to pick it up and have to go to the Post Office to get it, are you going to charge the other person money for having to drive to the PO and wait in line? Doubt it....

With regards to putting a buck or so in the costs for top loaders, etc, don't you get these when you recieve cards from others? Most people in this hobby have some lying around, and can use them.

Heck, I've used holders from my PC cards just to send off to others.

I use toploader with all of my deals on the forums but also give quite a few things away at the markets every sunday :)

I usually give away cards to the younger kids and put them in top loaders as a way of showing them how to look after their cards properly.

Unfortunately the number of cards i give away far exceeds the number of cards that i bring in from buying and trading !

When i bid on ANY ebay auction I will pay whatever post they are charging if the overall price still seems fair but that's just how i do things :D

As for the cards forums I agree 100% about overcharging....

PS, thanks for the tip Dr. Curlytek on the smaller mail cost. I will be checking that out today when i get to town

Nope that's wrong.

Anything under 5mm, size of a DL or C6 envelope and weighing up to 250gm, is small letter. So if it is in a bubble mailer, it will not be a small letter (too thick).

5-20mm is a large letter and envelopes larger than DL or C6 are Large letters, automatically despite weight. Anything smaller but over 250gm is a large letter.

Anything 5-20mm thick, up to B4 size (353 x 250 mm) and up to 125gm is $1.10 (2 stamps).

Anything 5-20mm thick, up to B4 size (353 x 250 mm) and 125-250gm is $1.65 (3 stamps).

Anything 5-20mm thick, up to B4 size (353 x 250 mm) and 250-500gm is $2.75 (5 stamps).

I have to travel about 10 KM's to go to the PO.Imagine what i could charge with the cost of fuel these days.
Lucky he doesn't take a cab to the PO :woot:Maybe he does ??

Hi,

What Ersk said about the postage costs and when the package becomes a small letter is correct. The only way it's going to get classified as a small letter and get charged only $0.55cents is if it's in a regular white envelope which ofcourse has no protection if it was to get ripped during postage, and isn't as reliable as the padded envelopes.

One time I bought off Hanizena on ebay and he sent me the card in a regular 0.55 cents pre-paid envelope. The card was in a toploader, but I was disappointed to see he charged $3.00 only to receive this extremely non-reliable regular white envelope with absolutely no other protection besides the toploader.

So if you're willing to risk it over a dollar or two, then don't be surprised once a Paypal dispute is filed and the card is claimed as damaged due to the fact it got bent or damaged during postage.

Thanks guys and all the best to all fellow ozcardtrader members and readers.

I just calculated how much internet i used to download your avatar, and you now owe me $.009. PM me for my paypal details. ;)

Everyone else, your invoices will be incoming.

as entertaining as this thread was to read it cost me 10 minutes of my work day

i charge out $120/hr so you guys owe me $20 + $5 for overhead costs

pay up, if you want to paypal that'll be an extra $2. total cost = $27

you guys also now owe me for Electricity fees of $17.80 for the usage of your site. Postage and handling requires $10 US extra.

Ah yes, you are right Ersk, I should have checked the Auspost website this morning before posting. But I am pretty sure I have measured the thickness of a bubble mailer with one top loader thickness inside using calipers as being under 5 mm, and have definitely sent bubblemailers this way myself without drama. I don't suggest doing it unless you are absolutely sure your package is less than 5mm thick.

Australia Post send me bills when I under-stamp my packages....they have a crackdown every now and again....then they send out a bill requesting the shortfall (normally only $1-3!!).
