Holy shit @GiRDS- you got some Pokemon!!!
I'm at 59/59 seen/caught. Best one I have is an evolved Eevee (Vaporeon) with 869CP. Just caught a CP720 Tangela in the office this morning, a slight upgrade over my 200-something one!
Speaking of evolving Eevee, you can change the Nickname of your Eevee's before evolving them, and you'll get a different Pokemon;
To get a Jolteon - change nickname to "Sparky"
To get a Vaporeon - change nickname to "Rainer"
To get a Flareon - change nickname to "Pyro"
(you can change nickname back once evolved)
Couple of tips for those not aware;
Lucky Eggs when activated, grant Double XP for 30 minutes.
Evolve your Pokemon during Double XP for 1,000XP per Evolution!
Pidgey's, Caterpie's and Weedle's are the cheapest to Evolve at 12 Candy each (right now, I have 9 Pidgey's and 105 candy!) - as you catch them, Transfer the lower leveled ones for 1 Candy - that'll make for 4 total candy per catch and transfer - will bank up quickly if you come on to a decent spawn) - that's all I get at home, Pidgey's, Zubats and Rattatas.
Incense and Lure Module's can be stacked, meaning they will grant extra Pokemon together.
Activate a Lure Module on a Pokestop or Gym, and then activate an Incense, then your Lucky Egg, and begin Evolving and catching all at once. Should bring a pretty exciting 30mins for the fellow Trainer!!!
Also, when leveling up, make sure your Bag is not close to full, as you MAY lose items (rewards) from leveling up - Coincidentally, I just missed my Level 16 rewards for some reason and my bag wasnt even full!

Bit of an update. This games such a grind but we'll get there lvl 22 and about 30k of 23
Found the blastoise and venasaur near the school that i work at. Bit dissapointed in their cp but i have 81 bulbasaur candys and 559 bulbasaur so hopefully this time next week i'll have a fully grown boss venasaur

Just hit level 10 today, starting to get some reasonable catches and get some pokemon evolved.
Still got a long way to go.
Have been finding when I have a lure on the Pokestop with lucky egg the game crashes frequently.
Have to restart the phone to get the thing up and working again.

Must admit I've slowed down a bit lately. Probably catch up by visiting some pokestops on the weekend.
Latest update - Level 16. Seen 47 caught 47. Strongest is a 1270 Snorlax. Find the eggs are delivering some nice ones, a 435 Drowzee today which was a new one for me.

Went hunting last night with the Wifey and skidlids.
Found a nice spot between 2 'stops where someone had activated Lure's on both! Activated my Lucky Egg, and went from Level 15 to 18 - Granted, I DID have like 140 Pidgey Candy and a stack of Pidgey's to Evolve!!
I had 1 'Mon get away from me the bugger! So that's now 67/68 seen/caught - then on the drive home, there were 3 unknown's and I could NOT find them after driving around a bit.
Including those evolved, I picked up a couple new ones including; Omanyte, Rapidash, Weepinbell & Kingler, Gloom & Nidorina.
Also evolved Eevee into Flareon, so now I just need Jolteon - need more Eevee's!
My highest CP is a Starmie I evolved from the Staryu, and leveled it up a bit, CP996 - running out of Stardust to continue upping it.
Still yet to find any "decent" ones. lol.

i would recommend not wasting your stardust. i learnt the hard way early on the piece.
so being level 15 you might catch staryu's generally on average without about 290 or so CP. but then when you get to level 22 and 23 the staryus you'll fin are often over 500. so if you evolve one of them they are often twice as good as anything you've evolved previously and you'll find yourself just wasting any stardust if you power up anything you caught early on. I hope that made sense.
same with like bellsprout, poliwag and oddish for me. i could've evolved my bellsprout ages ago but i didnt i've waited because it knew it would take me ages to acquire the 100 candys to go from weepingbell to victory bell. (oddish and poliwag the same) in that time thought that it takes you to acuire those 100 candies it is highly likely that you will catch a bellsprout, poliwag, and oddish with a much higher CP. hopefully the photos help explain my point, but basically i would recommend waiting till you have the full 125 candies

You know, I wish I read this an hour or so ago, ha ha.
I just went through this morning and pumped up my Starmie to 1054CP (I now have 5131 Stardust left), and upgraded a couple others. Evolved a Bellsprout into a better Weepinbell (722CP), and could have waited as you said.
Ah well. Live and learn. Won't take TOO long to rack the Stardust back up, but catching those Bellsprouts to get the Candy up could take some efforts.
I was talking to a girl in the office earlier, and said that from now on, the low level 'Mons I get, will be transferred, and the higher(ish) ones will be stashed until I level up.
Always the way, but when I evolved a Krabby to a Kingler, I've seen like 2-3 other Kinglers just this morning! Havent FOUND them, but spotted on the radar.

Just hit level 11 I am way behind
Saving most of my stardust till I hit 20+.
Stock up on Pidgeys, Weedles and Caterpie's where possible.
Save your Lucky Egg.
When you have a fair few of the above, and their respective Candy, activate Lucky Egg for double XP, and evolve as many as you can. 1,000 XP per Pokemon evolved. That'll help you level up quickER, but will still take some doing to get to 20.
I think I went from 11-14 via the above.

That is what I have been doing went from 5 to 11 in a day and a half.
so at my level now its getting pretty hard to find any new Pokemon. but i went to Rhodes tonight with 91 Pokemon, came back with 110. The place is insane. if you are sydney based you have to check it out, heck if you're in melbourne or brisbane i'd come too. there mustve been over 2,000 people out tonight hunting them haha. ill show my new stuff tomorrow morning, time for bed.
So i still cannot believe how many rare pokemon spawn in rhodes. In the space of about 3 and half hours last night i caught the following wild pokemon,
Porygon, Dragonair, Raichu, Gengar, Electabuzz, Magmar, Scyther, Rapidash, Marowak, Machoke, Slowbro, Primeape
would definitely suggest making the trip out there if you can.
My gengar only popped at 36CP
but i have 119 candies so i'll have a good one by tomorrow hopefully.

Yeah, the rare pokemon are as rare as ducks nuts.
I seem to be catching tons of Eevees, Weedils, Pidgeys etc.
Definitely a case of getting out and about to find different pokemon.
Gotta head down to town next week and do a big pokemission.
