Yes, but I'm going to sound ridiculous here. I have always thought he carried the team in the wrong ways. He tirelessly bashed it up the middle making hit ups, which looks amazing in the stats, but I've always thought he has lacked ball-playing and defence. If you look at his highlights he has a mean step to beat players as the top-shelf wing that he was, but other areas are lacking. The NRL media loves hero-worship and he benefitted from this at times.
A lot of us can't figure out where he plays. Charnze offers what he was doing before he left, is a great communicator in setting the defensive line and defends fantastically. He will be too well paid for the wing, and I have doubts about his defence and ballplaying for stand off or centre.
My hope is that his time in union has developed his defence and distribution enough to be a top-class centre ala Valentine Holmes. But yes, the Wahs are building, and with another prop and some good retention we are looking like we are on the up.
