Other than what NVD had happen to him - here's my current pet hate....

Blokes advertising cards FS/FT and then when u reply they don't answer! OR U put some cards up FS/FT and get a reply and when u reply they don't!!! This is happening to me more and more - never happened on here much but on other sites it's happening a lot - I know it's nitpicking a bit.......

yeah I hate that mate! on other sites... I have a few cards from someone's wantlist.. so I PM them. They usually PM back saying great! what do you want for them? Usually I go.. my wantlist blah blah or I could have a look at your tradelist. Never hear back from them again :( Other than that I hate it how I can't really get any trades going cos I have horrible tradebait :)

What happend to NVD wasn't that bad. That guy collects the set and was willing to pay more. Its a bit rich to think it wont go appreciated as much IMO. Who knows what the guy thinks? I wouldn't reply to emails either. Why would I sell a card I just bid on at a lower price or same price that I need? I delete those too.

Happens to me all the time with graded vintage and set collectors but I know some of them value a Roy Sparrow psa 10 over a Barkley RC psa 10 due to the difficulty getting one ;-)

My pet hate is the over use of the word MINT. Its no suprise to me that people are disapointed when they get cards graded and they come back with ordinary grades.

My pet hate would be when people list cards on ebay saying NO auto/Gu. I usually do a search on ebay.com.au for autos and having to sort through the crap that arent autos annoy me.

Mine would be people who list cards on ebay as 1/1s that aren't. Such as cards from the fleer auctions with no patches or autos on it, wiered looking patches, or cards that are numbered first or last in sets. As far as I am concerned, a 1/1 is only a 1/1 if it's stamped as one!

Gotta love the "RARE" listings.... MJ 93-94 Upper Deck Base, and it's RARE!!!

Also, when searching, I get Devin Harris/other player/other player, and they say, "Jersey Auto Patch" lol.

Sure probably is true, but they've used a Travis Diener patch, and a Seb Telfair Auto, and a 05-06 BASE Devin Harris. grrrr.... lol.

That's about the best I can come up with.

At this very moment, mine would be working out a trade.

I dislike it when they flaunt and list a price that is almost BV for their cards, yet when it comes to my offer and prices for my cards, they criticise and this doesn't sell for that, this won't sell this much on eBay etc.

So I pointed out to him, for one of the card that I want from him, I could've got it for $30US on eBay the other week, yet he is pricing his for $80US.

It's ridiculous and near-impossible to work out a trade with these kind of ppl.

i just wanted to say great thraed al=D> =D> =D>
i have too many hates to do with selling and buying as they seem to be more frequent.
one thing i will say is that i have never had a problem on this site and hope that continues.
this site is what collecting is about:)

I hate the word MINT myself! Recently recieved one of these supposed mint cards and it came with chipping all over the back of it.

I also have trouble coming to terms with some peoples trades and lowballing you when you try and trade. Several times in the past couple of months I have really thought about giving the hobby away. Most people are great and easy to work with, just sometimes I dunno #-o

I know want your talking about Al....! As we have already talked about it...It sucks when your trying to work out a deal/trade and the other person won't ever email you back!

I guess my pet hates are when you list that you have cards for trade only and are only interested in one certain lot of cards in return, then you get someone asking you to sell them so you change your mind to help them finish thier set and you ask them for an offer as the cards are not listed in the price guide yet and they do not even bother to answer you. So I will never go out of my way for them again.

The other pet hate is people who start auctions for lets say 99 cents to save on listing fees and when they are not getting the bids on the item they cancel the auction using the excuse like "error in listing". This is a pain as you bother to watch and you will bid, and they like to play games. I say you should not be allowed to continually do this. And there should maybe be a rating similar to retracted bids. It should be amount of auctions finished earlier.

NM

Listings that state a card is in NM condition. And sure the scan looks good and you think ok, I'll go for it. Then when you receive the card you find the corners are dinged, there's chipping on the edges, under the light you can see it's covered in weird scratches and its covered in finger prints..
Regular Joe Ebay Seller should think hard before he grades his own cards.

I guess you have a guilty conscience, but as you are willing to put my name up here "Notice that I did not name anyone in my reply to pet hates in the hobby". Well I should now say YES IT IS DIRECTED AT YOU. It is a shame you had to mention names but I was willing to go out of my way for you as I had respect for you. That was until you asked me a few times to sell as you had nothing I wanted, I let you know I wanted to trade only. But again you asked me to sell. And when I went and changed my mind to help a fellow collector (who I had respect for) get some cards to put towards the set they were trying to complete. I think it is a bit "UNCOLLECTOR LIKE" to not even bother to reply.

But as a collector I wish you the best of luck with your collecting "just not with me".

The reason I haven't got back to you is because I've spent every second of spare time the past 3 days getting that Card Show site up and running. I have also been inundated with PMs since I put it up of people wanting stuff and working out smaller deals, and I just have not had time to organise doing a larger deal with you yet.

I've also held off a little because I'm waiting on a big lot of incoming Finest stuff (which should have been here at the start of the week, and still hasn't arrived). There is no point me asking to do a trade with you for the stuff I need, only for this big lot to come in and find it has half the stuff I'm getting off you. I'm also hoping there is some stuff you need in there too. You seemed disagreeable to trading for stuff you don't need, so I'm not going to stretch your patience by asking for too much from you, just the stuff I really need to fill gaps in my set. I didn't realise there was a shot clock winding down on our deal either... ;)

Yes, I should have sent you a short message to let you know what was going on, I just have not had time to get back to everyone, and you were one of the few who missed out, and for that I apologise. But I hadn't forgotten, nor had I decided not to trade with you without telling you (ie not bother to reply, I just hadn't replied YET), that would be uncollector like.

For the record, my pet hates...

Sellers who charge ridiculous shipping because their auctions end cheap. You don't want them to end cheap, you up the minimum bid price. And you should be doing a favour to your customers who bid on your stuff, not causing them hassles.

Second, people from the USA / Other Countries who won't ship to Australia, or demand insurance. I'm the customer, if I don't want to pay $8 insurance on a 50c card that's my perogative. Just don't leave me feedback till I get the card, I don't care, I ain't gonna risk a negative over a 50c card.

People who send cash thru the mail without asking me if I accept it.

eBay & Paypals useless rules and non existant customer service.

Too many card sets.

UD Exquisite. Ruining the hobby that product is.

Travis Outlaw for not turning into LeBron James and making me a fortune.

I can understand you have a lot of people to deal with (as I always see your posts on this site) but large or small deal a short pm to the other person letting them you are still interested but you will get back to them as you are very busy and if the cards are still available then, maybe a trade could be done.

As for buying large lots of Finest maybe I could suggest a list that you could mark off everytime you buy something so you do not loose track of where you are up to.

As for being disagreeable about trading for things you don't need, I thank you for not trying my patience but I can not see the point in trading for cards that you don't collect. As I only collect Finest and nothing else.

Thanks AJ:rolleyes:
